La Mer Samui Resort in Lamai Beach

We stayed here for two nights. Before arriving, we tried several times to arrange an airport transfer via email and phone but received no response. Our Thai friend also noted that the phone number listed on their site didn’t seem to be a valid Thai number, so we ended up booking with a third-party service. Since we were checking in late at night (11 PM on New Year’s Eve), we were worried no one would be there to assist us. Fortunately, upon arrival, the owner (we assume) was there to hand us the keys and show us to our room.

We stayed in Room A10, one of the higher bungalows. The room was spacious, and the bed was a good size. However, the bed was extremely firm—almost uncomfortably so, especially for side sleepers. The bathroom was poorly designed, with the shower and toilet next to each other and no partition. This left the bathroom floor constantly wet as the drain didn’t work efficiently. The toilet seat was broken, and the door was difficult to close. Additionally, there was no TV in the room, which may be disappointing for some guests.

The breakfast was lackluster, and the coffee, as mentioned in many reviews, was unfortunately terrible. On the positive side, the room’s size was great, and the property itself, while old, had a charming green backdrop. The location is also a major highlight, being just a 5-minute walk to the beach.

While the greenery and proximity to the beach were nice, the lack of responsiveness and the room’s shortcomings made our stay less enjoyable than we had hoped.

Don't book this hotel!! Don't book this hotel!!!! We arrived yesterday and got our room straight away. Unfortunately all the doors and windows at our accommodation were open, so there were about 50 mosquitoes in the room and another 30 in the bathroom. There are dead mosquitoes all over the walls. But now comes the kicker, the bed is so hard you could sleep on the floor. Luckily I had the idea to get the cushions from the pool loungers in the middle of the night and put them on the mattress to make it a bit softer. The pillows are completely moldy and smell of urine. I'm attaching pictures here. The bathroom looks like a wet cell in a prison. The holder for the body wash and shower lotion was broken. There is no safe in the room. Our bed had a hole in the headboard. The bedside lamps were broken. There are no tiles missing from the pool and there is so much chlorine in the pool that your eyes burn when you walk past! We had actually booked two nights and decided to leave the hotel the very next morning. Agoda, the website we booked through, promptly refunded us for all nights! Stay away from this hotel!

❌🆘❌ at arrival the manager didn’t had our booking ready and didn’t want to give us our rooms/bungalows. We had to wait several hours before we eventually got the bungalows.. we had to change rooms after three days because the room was double booked. We went to the beach and returned at 7 pm after swimming and dinner. The hotel was closed, our luggage was moved to another bungalow and the door looked without giving us keys. Luckily the man in the tourist information next to the hotel helped us get in contact with the manager by phone. The hotel staff lucked us in and after an hour the manager came with the key, which also turns on the air conditioner. When returning home to Norway, we discovered my sons AirPods was stolen, last seen at this hotel, latest update at the west coast of Samui.. stolen by hotel staff. At least we have travel insurance ..

My bad experience....

The garden of the hotel was very beautiful. Staff were good. They were smiling. The owner of the hotel was a helpful lady. However, I won't say good things about the rooms. We had such bad experiences that they are as follows. 1. Room door does not close. That's why a lizard and a huge spider entered our room. We had to support the door of the room with chairs. Despite this, these animals entered the room. I will never forget the spider for the rest of my life. It was very, very big. By the way, don't ask what a lizard is, it makes an incredibly loud sound. Enough to keep you awake. They are walking around above you. 2. Water accumulates in the bathroom and the floor is always wet. 3. The room is damp and mouldy. It smelled. 4. TV was not working. 5. There is no security in the hotel. You cannot find anyone on duty at night. 6. Environmental lighting is insufficient. 7. Wifi is not working properly. As I said, the room doors do not close. Just wide enough for animals to enter. I think you should choose a slightly safer hotel until you pay this money here.
