OYO 288 The Minotel Hotel in Patong

I feel compelled to express my frustration and disappointment regarding my stay at your hotel. What began as a promising experience quickly turned into a nightmare.

Upon arrival, the room seemed decent, but very soon, numerous problems surfaced. After checking in, we faced an unexpected power outage. The air conditioning was so poorly insulated it froze, leading to extreme discomfort during these hot days.

The bathroom situation became unbearable with the presence of pests such as mosquitoes, lizards, and even several cockroaches—absolutely unacceptable for an establishment of this price. There was no way to close the bathroom window, so you can expect a surprise animal each time you enter the bathroom.

And after I caught them releasing these cockroaches right outside the door is unacceptable!!!

To make matters worse, by the second day, I was left without essential supplies like toilet paper, indicating that even the basic necessities were not maintained. Given the severe inconvenience and the fact that I am paying for an experience far removed from your hotel's promises.

Very old and dirty hotel overall. No compensation and no possibility to speak with or even call the owner/manager. Just look at the pictures and decide if you want to stay there.

I booked through Booking.com and asked them to delay my arrival by one day because I couldn’t get a bus. When I arrived the next day at 11 pm, our room had been given away for 3 nights. We struggled to find a new hotel at that time and didn’t have many options so late at night. After 3 days, we came back here and ended up having to pay for a whole new 10-day reservation in cash. I got written receipts and had to show Booking that I paid twice and requested a refund, which was difficult because the hotel wasn’t very helpful. The owner was also not friendly at all.

Long story short, I made a booking a too day early and realised my mistake. I asked if I could modify it to push my arrival by one day. They told me no, or that I should cancel the booking and make a new one. However, the cancellation wasn’t free unless they gave permission to booking, which they did not do. So, I decided to keep the original booking, and I was okay with paying for the extra night even though I wouldn’t be there, as it was my mistake, and stay for the rest of the week.

They knew we were arriving a day late. When we arrived, The owners, not friendly at all told us that people were in our room and took no responsibility, even though they were aware of the situation. They tried to convince us to stay at one of their other hotels, supposedly just 5 minutes from the beach, but it was more like a 20-minute walk and a downgrade in quality according to Google reviews.

In the end, we had to find a new hotel at midnight for three people. After contacting Booking.com, the reimbursement process took 2 months.

1. There is no elevator! ! I climbed to the 2nd floor with my suitcase, and saw that the room number was only 101. I had to climb all the way to the 5th floor with my suitcase!
2. There is no one at the front desk! I called several stores but no one answered the phone!
3. There is nothing in the bathroom! No shampoo! No shower gel! There is no soap! No toothbrush! No slippers!
