Hotel Avalon in Bansko

This place was recommended by friends when I was planning to stay for a month in Bansko. I'm so glad I went for it! James and Danny made me feel at home (which is so valuable when you're a nomad constantly traveling). The place is very clean, and the co-living guidelines make it comfortable and easy to live with the other guests. Avalon has a cozy living area, an awesome well equipped kitchen, and a charming outdoors area. The private rooms are perfect: well lit, quiet if you need to focus on work, and spacious. The location is central, and in a quiet and safe street. If you're looking for the best co-living space to fully experience Bansko the digital nomads' hub, then definitely go for Avalon.

"He's an eternally happy soul, isn't he?". It was a throw-away observation about one of my fellow guests from James, one half of Hotel Avalon's marvellous management double-act, James and Dani. Without pause I replied "Yes, there's quite a few of us here aren't there?" And that got me thinking... Everyone wants to be happy, but it seems so few people genuinely are... For any period of time at least. Myself included. But everyone at Hotel Avalon has been happy. Sure, the hotel is sited in a mountain wonderland. The food is great and the beer is cheap. There are log fires and friendly dogs, but it goes deeper than that. Happiness abounds here. This place feels like home and that is to the total credit of James and Dani. Our job as guests was easy. We just had to be picking up what they were putting down, feeling what they were dealing, drinking what they were thinking and jiving what they were conniving. Avalon is a great place to haul up for a month or more while exploring bansko. James and Dani help you out with great advise, lovely food and a occasional trip to the hotsprings. 30m to the mountains and only 2 hours to the greek beaches.

Avalon is such special place - James and Dani immediately make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. They have built an amazing co-living space, with attention to detail ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable and productive stay. They are wonderful people, and their hard work and love shines through with Avalon and the community they have built in Bansko. The rooms are spacious and we'll laid out, the kitchen has everything you could ever need and during winter the fire is constantly roaring. Curry night is also a weekly highlight not to be missed!

James and Dani will make you feel welcome and very comfortable during your stay. My wife and I regularly reminiscing our time at the Avalon in Bansko and often miss it and plan to return again in future.

Went for a curry with a group of 14, which was easily accommodated. The buffet had 8 different curries, with ample veggie / vegan options. Everything - the poppadoms, the naan, the curries, the staff - was tremendous. James is a terrific host, and I highly recommend to everyone.

I've been in this coliving for several months, and I like it so much that I consider it my true home. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm welcomes from both the staff and residents; the management has put an incredible effort into creating a welcoming and inclusive environment organizing events and activities, ensuring that the space is always clean and well-maintained and being there for everything their guests need. The location is amazing: 15 minutes walk from the gondola through the main street of Bansko, Pirin Street, and 5 minutes away from the city center. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with a desk in every room for people who need more privacy for work. The internet speed is great both from the rooms and the common spaces, which are well-designed, spacious, and well-equipped with everything you need to work, relax, or socialize. Whether you're looking to cook a meal in the kitchen, watch a movie in the lounge, or work on your projects in the shared office, this coliving space has got you covered. This means of course I would highly recommend this coliving to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable, and welcoming home away from home. It truly is an amazing place to live!
Restaurant: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Once per week, there's a curry night: the food is delicious and the buffet is huge and you can eat as much as you want. The management frequently organizes other events such as ribs night, Venezuelan night, cocktail night, and rum tasting... Never been disappointed, the quality of the meat and veggies are superb, and the choice of cocktails and liquors is refined. James will explain the details of what you're drinking, sharing and transmitting his passion for high-quality food and drinks.

We are not staying here, but we are joining to some food events that they host. Always a pleasure to visit James and Dani, the place has a great atmosphere and the food is SO yummy!!

If you ask the average Bulgarian what curry is they probably won't be able to answer this to you - the reason is that Indian cuisine is not very wide spread or popular in Bulgaria at all.

But if every Bulgarian had the chance to try the curry at Avalon, I'm sure the popularity of the dish will undoubtedly increase! James makes some of the best curry I've ever had, and luckily for me with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options! The chickpea and lentil curries were exclusively amazing, and we only wish they would have curry nights more often!

With that said, at the moment Avalon runs curry nights only on Thursdays and you need to make sure you reserve your spot in advance - whether that's for takeaway or dine-in visit. Unfortunately, during our time in Bansko the curry was only takeaway but the portion that is delivered to you in a box is more than enough to split into two meals!

With two words - absolutely delicious!
