Hotel Dumanov in Bansko

Great location, only a few minutes walk to the gondola station, very close to many bars, clubs and stores. There is a ski room in the lobby to store and dry skis, poles and ski shoes, which was free to use. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable, and the hotel had a free sauna, steam room and jacuzzi (although the steam room was only working for one of the three nights we visited the area). The room was tidy but we found a razor in the bathroom that belonged to neither me nor my partner. We also found someone else’s food left in the fridge - freezer which smelt really bad. On our second evening, the hotel owner(?) Dimitar (whose number we were given as first point-of-contact) blocked my number after I inquired about the fast-track gondola passes he had promised us, which made us feel very confused and uneasy. It felt like they were offering us this fast-track to ensure we didn’t cancel our booking, after I enquired about the queue situation for the gondola. If we weren’t offered this fast-track, we would’ve booked a different hotel which had fast-track passes for sale. There are 5 hotels in Bansko which offered this. We ended up queuing up to 3hrs every day as a result of this misinformation. On our last night after skiing we paid for a massage; the woman was lovely and it was a great experience.

What seemed like a hotel with reasonable prices, clean comfortable rooms and good service, changed my opinion on the last day of my stay. What they insisted was a misunderstanding on my side regarding the charges on my bill, was handled by the managers in a very rude unprofessional manner. When i suggested i call the police they threatend to charge me the full high season fees. My advise to visistors would be to get prices quoted in writting or paying in advance. Will not be staying there again.
