Hotel Tempelhof - City-Messe-Arena in Koln

I only checked the reviews for this place after making the booking, and thought that I had made a grave mistake given the low scores. This was very far from the case and I'm baffled by the reviews of others on here. The room was great. It's not the Ritz, but it is also not the price of the Ritz, and everything worked and it was clean (high pressure shower, comfy bed). Breakfast was fresh bread every day, meats and cheeses, fresh fruit and decent cappuccino. Yi and Lena were as hospitable and accommodating hosts as can be imagined. I requested a fan and received one immediately. When I cut myself they provided first aid and assistance. Extremely attentive and friendly, and they spoke good English despite it being their 3rd or 4th language. And the price was extremely reasonable, in a good location not far from cafes and supermarkets, 9 minutes walk to the station and lanxess arena. All round, there can be no complaints. Thank you for being fantastic hosts, and if I ever come again to Cologne and wish to save a little cash, I will definitely come back. 5/5

Hotel and reception have a seperate entrance. No lift but but that is not serious problem for a small family run hotel.

Good affordable hotel about a fifteen minute walk from the center of Cologne. Clean renovated rooms. With good beds. There is no elevator to that hasn't been a problem for me. Breakfast is simple but tasty. You can park near the hotel in one of the parking lots on the banks of the Rhine.

Basic room but very welcoming, great location, friendly staff (they left us a go-bag since we had to leave before breakfast was available) and in general a great value for the price.
