Danelis Studios and Apartments in Malia

Just returned from Daneli’s after a week stay with family. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. The accommodation and grounds were clean. My kids loved playing in the rear garden and pool. The food was good and reasonably priced. The location was good, close to shops and a 10 min walk from the beach. The best thing about Daneli’s was the staff. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and made our stay so memorable.

Just returned from an Easter Break at Danelis Apartments - what a wonderful 2 weeks. Quiet area but close enough to Malia Old Town for the local restaurants. Apartments are clean and spacious and being family run you are not just a room number! A huge thank you to the whole Danelis family for their wonderful hospitality. We will definitely return again.

Stayed in October not going into detail read the five star reviews they say it all. Going back in April. The brothers are great.

This place is easily the best place we've ever stayed in Crete (and we've stayed in a few) When we first arrived, at stupid O'clock in the morning, Nikos was there waiting for us. He showed us to our room and said that the bar was still open if we wanted a beer. Well after a long day of travelling, this was very welcome. We actually indulged in more than 1 or 2, and toddled back to our room at about 3am !! The hospitality continued for our entire stay, both Nikos & his brother Makis are really the most amazing hosts. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are hilarious, bouncing off each other and including the guests in the jokes. Mamas cooking is amazing!! Her Carbonara is the best I've ever tasted, she cooks for the family every day & makes a little extra to put on specials on the menu for the guests. The Pastitsio is a must try, if you get chance. The menu is very good, a great selection, without being too big, everything we tried was homemade and very tasty. The room was great, fridge, kettle, toaster 2 ring hob, hairdryer etc. we were on the bottom floor, so the terrace looked out onto the courtyard. Have to mention Maria the young lady who cleaned the rooms, she was around every day with fresh towels, making the beds, and cleaning the room. The pool area was kept clean and tidy and there was always plenty of sun loungers. It's a short walk to the strip or the old town far enough away to not be disturbed by the party people (although, we travelled in October, so it wasn't busy) The whole vibe of Danelis is No Stress, we spent most of our evenings around the well stocked pool bar, laughing and chatting with other guests, and of course Nikos & Makis, the relaxed friendly atmosphere makes you feel like you've known these people for years, it's honestly bizarre!! All in all, this is a great little place to stay, we enjoyed it so much that we arrived home in the UK at 4am in the morning, 4pm the same day we've re-booked for April!! It really is, that good !!!

Fantastic location, 5 minutes walking distance to everything you need yet set in peacefull surroundings. Danelis is so unique, I've never stayed anywhere where so much thought has gone into a building and its amenities. The pool area, stunning, ample room for all guests to have a sunbed without being on top of one another, so clean, and we'll layer out, with toilets and a shower room. Poolside bar/snack bar, many a late night had at the bar with so much laughter ( can't wait to go again). The food, all freshly made, all hand made and I enjoyed everything I ate, from full English to toasties, omelette, burgers and pizza, best I'd had. Rooms, traditional and kept spotless, beds made and rooms cleaned on a daily bases. Large balcony with views of fields and in the background the sea. The owner, Makis, what a host, exceptional, with his brother Nikos, family and all the staff just so friendly, your actually mafe to feel like part of the family. For us, it was like having a holiday with a group of old friends. The warmth and friendliness rubs of on everyone. Love the place, and every greek island need a Danelis!!! I will be going back, so see you soon.

From the moment we arrived at Danilis we relaxed.....its nothing you can put your finger on....just a sense of calm and welcoming. You are treated as one of the family & nothing is too much bother. Brothers, Makis & Nikos, the owners, are hilarious, a true double act who will keep you laughing with their 'one liners' Rooms are comfortable with more than enough space for us..... Don't get me wrong, it's not 5* ....the rooms could do with some tlc, but it is the end of the season. The communal patio areas are superb, very comfortable & the pool is stunning, so clean. Breakfast was delicious, especially reccomend the Cretan Breakfast.

Leaving Danelis this evening...this is our third visit, first came in 2022 and then again in 2023, always a warm welcome! If you want a chilled relaxed holiday, with a beautiful pool, in a location where you will receive absolutely outstanding service then Danelis is the place for you. Makis, Nikos and all the family and staff at Danelis are so kind, welcoming and helpful, everything you need consider it done! We love it so much here we have already booked for two weeks again next summer, our son has become good friends with Nikos' little boys its now like visiting friends and you can't say that about your average holiday. Danelis is in the perfect location for a quiet, chilled break or a more lively experience...you are approximately ten mins walk from both the old town of Malia with its stunning restaurants and authentic Greek atmosphere and the same distance from the more lively, modern party vibe of Malia. Also walking distance to the beach. Plenty of shops within walking distance but you literally will want for nothing at Danelis. Been to other places with amazing reviews on par with the reviews for Danelis and in reality non of them compare...the excellent reviews you read here for Danelis are absolutely accurate. If you want five star accommodation this is not it...but it is clean, comfortable, plenty of room and for us the service is beyond five star and we would rather that! Danelis is our favourite place and we are sad to leave 😢

Absolutely brilliant hotel from start to finish they was welcoming and friendly couldn't do enough.The food was amazing my other half was obsessed with the carbonara to be fair tho I tasted and was really good.room was everything we needed basic but clean and had all you need for self catering would highly recommend if going to Malia brilliant job danelis you did really good and made are holiday thank you.

This hotel gives the warmest welcome. The pool is amazing, with the addition of the poolside bar. Staffed by the friendliest people I've met here. This is the third time I've been to Crete and value this establishment highly. I always look forward to landing and making this one of our first stops.

I have just visited the Danelis hotel for the first time with friends. The owners Nikos and Makis could not have done enough for us during our stay and made the best cocktails ever! We felt incredibly safe in this hotel thanks to the night watchman George who was very friendly! The hotel rooms are basic but incredibly clean and had everything we required for our stay! The music at the pool catered to every guest and really added to the feel good vibe of this hotel. Overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Malia (young or old). NO STRESS
