Stayed here for one night when our flight got cancelled. It was an amazing stay. The two guys who worked at the front desk were really nice and accommodating. They got everyone in in a timely manner (there were lots of people) and were kind even when people were disrespectful. They brought us food even though it was very late. I'm giving 3.5 points to the male receptionist for his excellent service. He was always proactive in asking if I needed help when he saw I had a problem. When my room's heating wasn't working, even though he was busy, he first sent a colleague to check it out (though that person was pretty dismissive, just telling me to wait and that it would heat up soon 🙄). Booked a fly and drive in iceland and this was our hotel on the 25th of december. For some reason our booking agency canceled our reservation so we would not have a room on the first day of christmas. But the owner helped us anyway,and gave us a room! What a Chad! Rooms are decent,and the bathroom was great. Breakfast was also really good.

A fantastic stay at Hotel Borgarnes! The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing visit. Great hotel. Clean . Helpful Staff. It's a 20 minute walk to town food area. Rooms comfortable. Northern Lights view from the hotel property if they are active.

Basic rooms with an excellent shower and comfy beds. We missed dinner but believe it was excellent as well. Decent spread for breakfast. No cappuccino machine. But have coffee. Excellent stop over to the north. Special mention to Mario at the reception who made an extra effort and very hospitable. Will def stop over again, when we come next to iceland.

Slept here the first night after arriving. Location between the airport and Reykjavik is great. Although the hotel is situated on a kind of business area, there are restaurants and bars nearby within a 5 min. drive.

The hotel view is perfect. I will say this is a good place for viewing northern light!

Well built and decorated. Very clean, the rooms are warm and comfortable. The one thing I don't like is the breakfast, which is completely cold and quite low end in comparison.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ion. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the lava spa was very relaxing. We had a great dinner at the restaurant and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The staff was very kind and gave us some great local recommendations for the next stage of our trip. If you're sensitive to smells, definitely don't stay here. The sulfur smell is overwhelming; it woke me up twice in the middle of the night. The water also has a strong sulfur smell. Writing this review reminds me of that stench, and it makes me shudder.

The hotel is conveniently located near the Golden Circle attractions and a park. Nearby, you can witness geothermal steam rising from the ground.

The most beautiful hotel of our entire trip. But above all, I highly recommend trying the wonderful food at this hotel. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, which made check-in smooth and welcoming. After a long day of driving, it was such a relief to lie down in the extremely comfortable beds, they were just what I needed. This hotel is an excellent place to arrange an overnight stay the night before flying out. It is located only 5-10m away from airport and was the endpoint for us after a private tour of iceland, making it a very simple matter to get an early flight the next morning. Stayed here for the last night of our trip in Iceland, excellent location near Keflavik airport with complementary airport drop-off. Managed to catch the northern nights outside the hotel, which was the highlight of our tour which we thought we would miss after 1 week.

The Ladies at the front desk are INCREDIBLE, especially for solo travelers, they are very helpful. The food is FANTASTIC. Perfect place to see the Northern Lights and only 8 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from the Blue Lagoon. The roof top hot tube is very nice. I wish the shower water pressure was harder and warmer.

Stayed 1 night in well located spot very near petrol station, supermarkets and even a 4.8 score restaurant for dinner. Rooms are clean, comfortable and fairly big size. Reception staff was extremely responsive when he spotted us having difficulty opening the main door fighting with strong gusty winds.

The hotel appeared appealing at first glance, but it fell short on some basic amenities, such as hooks for jackets, railings for the bunk beds in the family room, or simple storage options. Additionally, there was no side table, which is typically standard even in budget accommodations. On the positive side, the room was certainly clean.

As you enter the hotel you can obviously see that they are seeking for money. No kettle or spresso machine in the room (you have to pay around 20€ daily if you want them) , no water in the fridge at all , a list of the prices of all the products in the room ( such as blankets and condoms and some toothbrushes and etc.) hidden in the cabinet! Great location and helpful staff but the rooms have not been slept in by anyone running this hotel - and therefore aren’t well designed. No light switches or sockets by the bed (in fact only one set of sockets under the desk and the window on the floor so you have to properly get down on hands and knees!) other than that the toilet doesn’t have a proper door and the shower is just behind a glass panel...

We found our room to be typical of most European hotels. Minimalist, no storage, and no door on the bathroom. That means when you turn on the light to use the restroom in the middle of the night, it lights up the entire room. Tha room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

We had only a 1 day stay as we were getting on a cruise ship. This hotel was very close to the cruise port and the staff their directed us to a walkable distance to a free shuttle bus to the cruise port, We explored the area , which was downtown, on foot and enjoyed it very much..

Overpriced for the quality of the room Good location but room with slanted ceiling and only skylights without windows. Felt like we were in an attic. Not happy with the room for the price we paid.

The room was clean however the bathroom really smelt badly of “drain”. The bed was comfortable and the area was generally quiet. The breakfast was very crowded with little room to manoeuvre. The hot food was lukewarm at best with the bacon being totally undercooked on the first morning and overcooked on the second morning. The bread I felt like eating on the second morning of my stay was still frozen...

We loved our one-night stay at Gistihúsið – Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir! After a long day of traveling, the sauna and hot tub were exactly what we needed, super relaxing and a beautiful way to wind down. So charming and I loved the lake monster. She was a wonderful host. The ambience is like a cozy luxe cabin. The restaurant was so delicious. Good sushi in Iceland with LOCAL wasabi was not on my Arctic bucket list but slay. Very generous/kind reception and wait staff. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. To top it off, the spa was so relaxing! We booked this on the fly and were not disappointed. After a bunch of hours driving, we arrived here to find a very sweet hotel on the lake. The view out back said "come on in." The room is clean, spacious, quiet and comfy. We immediately hit the on site spa and sat on the hot tub for a while. We love the staff.

Hotel Jökul was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment. We arrived late at night in the rain and darkness, which made it a bit difficult to find the reception and there was little indication that there was a hotel there. After a while we saw a sign pointing the way to the reception and that was nice. But when we dragged our luggage up the stairs and into there, we were given a room in another building...

No-frills hotel a short drive from Höfn. Rooms look a bit dated but are functional and will give you a good night's rest. Breakfast is a simple affair with no hot food on the menu. Walls are thin and we could hear our neighbours a bit too well.

Advertised as hotel with free breakfast the announced that our reservation didn't include it and that we would need to buy it at $24 each. We made a reservation on Hotels.com where was not option even on breakfast to be included or not. Somehow hotel decided not to?! There is no elevator, beware you have a heavy luggage! Rooms are ok, spacious, but there are no fridge, no shelves and no room to place...

The family room that we had was very spacious. Due to the location of the hotel it is very quiet. Our beds were comfortable -- just right hardness. We missed a reading light near the bed. Dinner in the hotel restaurant a la carte was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good.

Great hotel, the staff super friendly and service is amazing. Just a little nitpick is the placement of the TV position is a little odd. But the room is super spacious and with a little balcony that faces the seaside which makes winter night viewing in Iceland just on another level entierly.

The accommodation seemed old, but it was in good condition. The only downside was that the bathroom didn't drain properly. It's fine for a short overnight stay.

The shower was so tiny; the shower head is not adjustable so my hair got wet every time I got in the shower, the shower curtain clung to my body, and the water got all over the bathroom floor. The blow dryer worked for 60 seconds and then needed to charge for a full minute before using it again. This hotel is a fine stop for a one-night stop for travel across the south coast. Because it is a larger hotel, indeed there are tour buses overnighting here, but that didn’t cause any discomfort for us. The room was spacious and clean and beds were comfortable. It was nice to have breakfast included, which you don’t always find in Iceland. The view from the front-facing rooms is beautiful.

The hotel itself is similar to a Days Inn in America. For the most part it's very basic with few amenities. The beds were very comfortable and the mattresses did look new. We had a wonderful stay at this fabulous Viking themed hotel. The staff & service were impeccable, and nothing was never too much trouble. The food at the adjoining restaurant was also truly delicious. They really made our stay a time to remember for all the right reasons. ❤️

Disappointing first stay at this hotel. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful however there was a man working there who was grumpy, unhelpful and rude. Didn’t seem to want to serve people and wouldn’t help us with an early breakfast. The standard room was tiny with no room for luggage and two people. The hot tub was lovely and great to use however

I had a really nice stay at this hostel in Iceland. The location was great and it was easy to get around. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and warm, which was perfect after spending the day outside exploring.

The room is well-equipped and in a good location, close to the city center. Free parking is available at the door. The overall experience is very good. You can check in by yourself by entering the password obtained by the order at the door. There is a breakfast buffet downstairs.

Despite the hotel’s somewhat unpreposessing location in the middle of what appears to be an industrial estate, we did enjoy our stay in room 501 here. Points of note- The hotel is approximately 2 miles from the centre of Reykjavik. So prepare to walk, hire a car or make use of taxis etc. We were told the hotel has no reception desk-and we never did see or find one. You need to contact them in advance...

No reception but they emailed us with the code to get in and the code to our room which all worked fine, no lift, main light not working but that didn’t bother us much as we had the big windows so there was plenty of daylight, didn’t see any cleaners, bad smell from hot water was everywhere in Iceland so no just this hotel, bathroom door didn’t close but other than that everything was clean and done...

The rate of experience definitely is dar better than the pat review. The hotel just need to focus of micro detail of booking such as breakfast , the capsule given for the coffee maker machine should be compatible . Seems like a new hotel. Reception on first floor (one floor up from street entry). 24 hr reception, friendly staff (advise them on check in if you want daily room service. 7 floors of accommodation. Rooms smallish but warm, beds comfy. Breakfast was wonderful, if you go when it opens at 7am pastries are still warm. Small selection of books to read and games to play. This was a lovely hotel to stay in. From the management to the kitchen staff- all lovely people, very warm and welcoming. The room we stayed in was bright, spacious (for 2), and very clean. There was a large wardrobe, tea/coffee making station, a flatscreen TV and a good sized bathroom with walk in shower. The double bed was very comfortable (compared to some hotels!!). There was no noise concerns...
