Akranes, Laxarbakki 🧭 Map
Thank you so much. Ms. Manager. As your advice I saw the great aurora eventually.....(On Saturday) And I appreciate your hospitality including a staff as well (Thanks for preparing hot spring and sauna.) Bye.... Simon An from Korea.
We stayed one night at this hotel, the hotel is family run & is staffed. They have a hot tub & sauna available as well. The rooms are quiet, clean & cozy. Nothing super amazing about this hotel but decent. The views are pretty good from here as a river runs beside & they have a nice fountain out front. They didn't shovel the snow until much later in the day. Ample parking here for free.
Lovely staff. We really just needed a place to stay for the evening while traveling around the country. Location was easy to access for us.
Staff is very helpful. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. There is also sauna and hot spring facilities which we can enjoy a lot!
After a long day travel, we arrived early at 3 o’clock, and we’re very disappointed that we could not even sit in a lobby. Accommodations Work great and the staff were very helpful. We were hoping to leave early to start the golden ring circle before the crowds however, breakfast does not start until 8 o’clock, which is a little late for trying to get an early start..
Clean, good condition, excellent bedroom and bathroom, quiet, good views, good breakfast Limited supper menu, no lunch, slight institutional feel to communal areas, remote so car essential.

A hotel experience that exceeded expectations. Located near bus stop #3, it's close to most of the recommended fine dining restaurants. The cinnamon roll bakery and the famous President Hot Dogs, also highly recommended, are nearby. Rainbow Street is about a 6-minute walk away. My favorite parts of the hotel were the bathtub, the shampoo and conditioner signs, and the balcony with the view of the...
Exceptional Hospitality and a Dreamy Honeymoon Stay Our stay at the Reykjavik Konsulat Hotel was undoubtedly the highlight of our honeymoon. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were captivated by the hotel's sophisticated and timeless charm. What truly set this stay apart was the extraordinary hospitality, including a complimentary room upgrade that made our stay incredibly comfortable...
This was a great hotel. The staff here are excellent and treat their guests as excellent as well. The rooms are big. There is no parking but you can street park or park in one of the many close parking garages (we had a large Toyota Land Cruiser that fit fine in the garage). The location is excellent, super central, you can literally walk to most of the places of interest, if you’re able. The only...
The front desk staff were rude. Someone knocked on our door in the early morning, and when we called the front desk, they said it was probably a drunk guest who had knocked on the wrong door and might be hiding in the stairwell. Their evasive answers only increased our anxiety. On our first night, we left our wet bathrobes on the floor in the basement bathtub. The next day, when they cleaned, the staff...
We stayed here for 2 nights from December 31st to January 2nd. It was a great experience and very convenient for a New Year’s visit. Room & Facilities: We were in room 402 which was also excellent for New Year’s Eve as we could watch the fireworks from the roof terrace on the same floor. The room was very clean and stayed properly dark at night, which we appreciated. The complimentary minibar was...
Great, love the service and the location too. Best stay during our trip.

Just a nice country hotel with beautiful wood panel walls in each room, comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom
Absolutely our favorite stay while in Iceland. This spot is about 10 minute outside of the main Hofn area and very affordable. Our self-check in was very easy and our room was easy to find. Our little double bed cabin was so precious and held perfectly fine against the winter wind and cold. We loved that we could park right outside our cabin rather than lug our luggage through a hotel from a parking...
Our room was great. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Offered a nice breakfast to start our day.
Have travelled the world but this place is truly special. Vasillis took great care of us all evening until the Northern Lights appeared. What an incredible experience. Great hospitality. Clean, comfortable and warm.
Perfect location just outside Hofn. Very nice guesthouses with shared bathrooms. We stayed only for one night but we couldn't have asked for anything better. In line with prices in and around Hofn.
We arrived around 8 and they were very helpful with dining options outside of the hotel but we ended up eating there, which was an amazing choice! The service was excellent, the food was delicious. We spoke with a worker for almost an hour after the restaurant should have closed and got many suggestions on where to go on our trip and lots of information about Iceland. Wonderful stay!

Love this!!!! It’s awesome, the guys there are kind and passionate.
We had two different kinds of rooms here. 1 two bedroom apt (at the top of the rainbow road) and 1 double bedroom onsite in the hotel. The hotel room was very cramped but fine for just sleeping. The 2 bedroom apt was huge and in a great location BUT it was super noisy on Saturday night (late) when people were going out/home. If that's not an issue for you, highly recommend. If it is, ask for a room...
Great location! Only a block or so away from rainbow road and about a 5-10 min walk from the church or bus stop 8. Walk to BSI bus terminal is a little bit further (10-15 minutes), but not bad. The rooms have so many outlets which was greatly appreciated. Very friendly staff and breakfast was good.
Very accessible and centrally located. Near restaurants, places of interest. I will recommend.
Location was great, it was walking distance to most places. There was a really nice bar just opposite. Service staff were helpful and pleasant. The room I stayed in was quite small. I did not quite like the layout of the room. The TV was in an odd location too. The lighting in the room could be improved. There were stains on the toilet mirror, felt that these should be changed as it gives the impression...
Hotel Ódinsvé is ideally located in the city center, within easy walking distance of major attractions such as the cathedral, making it very convenient for tourists. The on-site restaurant offers delicious meals and is worth a try. However, since Iceland has 20 hours of sunshine in summer and the room's light-shielding effect is slightly insufficient, it may affect sleep quality. If you stay in the...

Fabulous hotel! All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful space for relaxing in the reception area, by day and by night. Great breakfast and fantastic location! Highly recommend...
Lovely clean hotel one of the best we have ever stayed in. Very nice staff that went out of their way to help you with anything. Even told the lady on reception (owner?) what a great hotel it was. Brilliant breakfast with a great choice of food. Would definitely stay here again
A lovely hotel, but improvements in storage would make it excellent. If 2 of you are staying in a double room for more than a couple of days the lack of storage is inconvenient. Breakfast is incredible, along with the service from the staff.
We stayed at Hotel Akureyri and overall had a really positive experience. It is a really nice hotel with a great ambience throughout, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. We upgraded to a sea view room, which was a great choice. The room was a really good size, the bed was comfy, and having a fridge in the room was a big plus. The TV had broadband, so we could watch things in the evening...
This hotel was very beautiful. Its location in the Centre of Akureyri. The staffs was friendly and helpful. The room was small but it is enough for 2 of us. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast has many choice. Will comeback again .
We were lucky enough to check in that morning and get an upgraded room, which was a fantastic experience! We were even luckier to see a spectacular aurora explosion from the roadside entrance that evening, though we missed it the following night. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. Stayed one night at Hotel Vik on a recent trip to Iceland. The people at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is pretty and clean and a great choice if you are heading out to Vik or the surrounding area. The room was very spacious with huge windows that I loved. Everything was great but would have liked a door on the shower. Wish we had stayed longer to enjoy the lounging areas...
Nice hotel with great location near attractions. Room is comfortable but a little small even for family room.
Super cozy hotel, a well-known brand amenity provided. Wifi, kettle, coffee tea are included in the room. Super worthy to have breakfast there wif loads of option Free parking and there’s gas station/Supermarket in the opposite .
affordable, staff very helpful an walking distance to everything in Vik. Would stay again. Free parking. Useful TV screen in lobby with weather/traffic reports to help you plan your day. hubby checked out the bar said it was great and staff were fantastic there also. Room was clean and basic as expected. no complaints
The standard rooms are small, and our shower had a curtain, so water ran all over the bathroom. It's fine for one night, but if you're traveling with a group, I recommend staying in the nearby suites at the same hotel. The breakfast is very good; they even have watermelon, and that's in winter.
Overall great room when we needed a place last minute when weather prohibited us from moving forward. Clean, spacious, nice restroom, and great views no matter what side of the hall you are on. Good breakfast, and late checkout at noon.

The hotel is located on a plate Space you can’t see anything surround you even the small town. So you have to carry your own food here and you can cook by yourself. All around you is the dark sky for endless, and you can use the hot pot and the sunna room for a rest. They don’t offer breakfast, but they will offer you free coffee and milk and biscuits.
The best hotel experience I've ever had. I was just looking for a cheap place to rest my head during an on-campus school weekend and they blew me away. Parking was easy and location was good. So many stairs to have to lug up and down heavy luggage. Staff were never seen except briefly at breakfast. Overall, it was okay. Views were good.
Reception was unstaffed so keys just left on counter. No welcome at all. Room itself was comfortable but bathroom was a little tired. Ample off road parking and breakfast sufficient
Bedding not clean, hotel is pretty old. No service like a guesthouse instead of hotel. Shower next to toilet in one tiny bathroom, all wet after shower.
Great place to stay on the Snaefellsnes peninsula! Simple hotel and nothing fancy, but we found it clean, convenient, and quiet for an enjoyable stay. Very close to Kirkjufell, so perfect place to stay if you want to go early in the morning …
Location was minutes away from Kirkjufellsfoss and near a gas station and grocery store. The check in was super easy, just grab your key in the reception. Only problem, there were no check in instructions. Good thing another guest was nice enough to inform us. The room was spacious but the hallway has a bit of a smell. No kitchen but breakfast is available for a fee. Good place to rest for the night...

Place is clean and decent. For me and my husband, the bed was too soft and the pillows also too thin. Breakfast was basic but that's on.
The hotel has a contactless check-in system, no front desk, and the door is opened with a password, which is simple, fast, and efficient. Breakfast is a buffet breakfast, and you have to clean up the dishes yourself after eating. The room is clean, sanitary, and comfortable, nice 👍
Blind selection is similar to a hotel in China, with nice surrounding scenery.
Room was spacious and clean. There were some muffins when we arrived. Tv not working, WiFi was slow. Breakfast was ok.

The room was clean, breakfast was good, and they offered an aurora wake-up service at night, which allowed us to see the Northern Lights.
Stayed for two nights, there was almost no service in between, and the used amenities weren't replenished. Its only function was to be a place to crash on the way. The room given to Chinese guests was terrible, and we only got it changed after demanding it.
Had a great stay at Hotel Kria. There was a free breakfast included which had many options which was a nice start to each day. The room itself was nice and had plenty of room.
This hotel is located right in Vik, directly across from a supermarket and a large Icewear store – even bigger than the one in Reykjavik, making it great for browsing. This is a self-service hotel, so there's no front desk. However, the facilities are brand new, and the room isn't small. It even has its own parking garage, which makes for a very comfortable stay. The location isn't in the city center, but it's not far either – about a seven or eight-minute drive. Getting around is super convenient, as there's a bus stop right downstairs. Definitely recommended.
This is a self-check-in hotel. The breakfast is simple but filling, and the environment is quite nice. There's a parking lot, but you need a code to enter.
The breakfast was very impressive!
The room was clean and cozy, and there's a supermarket conveniently located near the hotel. The indoor parking was a huge plus, making parking very easy. The breakfast had a great variety, and the hotel staff were very friendly.
Location a slightly away from city centre however it’s convenient with car. Car park is available at basement with limited space. Breakfast was ok overall. The waffle and jam is delicious. Self check in but we didn’t encounter any issue during our late check in around 10pm.

Poor value for money We arrived for check in and given a very comfortable, clean but basic room. Parking was just outside. Only a minor downside, as you will be aware hotels are not good value for money in Iceland, but all the TVs were being upgraded so the current ones didn’t work. Great location, free parking, friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent- lots of choices and everything fresh. The room was very clean, perfect size with bay views. We were offered 10% discount on a whale tour which we gladly used. The hotel is within walking distance from city centre, but at the same time is on a quiet street overlooking the bay.
One of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. The view was amazing, the rooms were fantastic, but Eston was the real gem of our stay. A classically modern hotel. The rooms do feel a little tight but enough to move around. The staff is very accommodating and easy to work with. Hotel itself is on a strange one way that Google Maps has a hard time directing to. Visited here in mid February so it was quiet and lots nearby to walk to. There are a lot of nearby bars and restaurants so I could see this being a popular spot.
Staff was wonderful. Helped us book fly us to airport and held our bags for us. Room was amazing! I would def stay here again if I return to Iceland. Close to everything downtown and the restaurant was so good. We had dinner and breakfast there!
The Apotek Restaurant has a great breakfast menu. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff Service is excellent.
The staff was attentive and the hotel was clean as was the room and bathroom. It is at a great location within walking distance from bus stops and shopping and some of the important sightseeing locations. The front staff were friendly and always available. The room and all bedding were clean. The bathrooms were of a public restroom style and the showers were in a locker room style. The kitchen area was a bit cramped for countertop space with no place to store non-refrigerated foods. The refrigerator was packed full and was hard to find room for my items. The location and price were great.
A good hostel/hotel. The students stayed in dorms which served the purpose and were clean with shared showers. Staff had comfortable rooms on the same floor or better rooms in the hotel above. Was a little crowded at one point as they had three big groups in, but they managed the breakfast sittings well. Good food in the packed lunches and for dinner was very good.
Very clean, pleasant accommodations. Staff was friendly, and helpful if you needed any sort of assistance. Great place to stay, walking distance to most shops and bars with one inside of the Hostel itself. I would definitely stay there again, but would probably inquire into getting a private room.
The location is really great - walking distance to the city center, but also one of the main stops for any tours/excursions that include ground transportation. Beds were clean and comfy though the photos online make the (hostel) rooms look a bit more luxury than they actually are. The lobby, bar, bistro and lounge areas are wonderful. But the rooms, kitchens, bathrooms are yucky. At least four outlets in the 12 bed room didn't work. At least two of the bed lamps didn't work. Great location, close to lots of restaurants and most of the main tourist sights - but on a reasonably quiet road so you feel out of the city centre. Very good service and helpful staff. Great choice of food for breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend!
Great location, within walking distance to the church, and they have their own free parking. The room was small, the bedding wasn't very clean, and there were no power outlets by the bed, only USB ports, which was inconvenient.
This is an old school hotel full of charm. We had junior suite. The room was a bit old but really beautiful. The rooms have physical keys rather than cards to show how old. The location is close to most of the good sights. Lastly our 4th floor room had a great view of the city.

Very close to the airport terminal. Breakfast starts from 4am. It is very easy to catch early flight. Bottom of shower screen is not sealed, water can run into basin and toilet area.
The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the KEF Airport of Iceland and offers breakfast from 4:00 am, which is a great convenience for travellers catching early flights. The room was spacious and clean. A pleasant stay there!
Only 5 min walk from Airport. But if it rain, the walkway becomes very wet. So it s so hard to darg our luguages.
Nice hotel located just opposite to the airport, good choice for guests that have an early morning flight as the airport check in and security check might take a while in peak seasons. The room is big and comfortable. Food in the restaurant is fresh and delicious, reasonable price in Iceland and also great services and extra long opening hours for flight guests.
Room lacked heating. Double bed was two single mattress pushed together with uncomfortable gap between and no mattress topper. Food was ok. Only reason to stay here is the 2 minute walk to airport for the 0600 flight. Check-in and checkouts was easy
Pros: Close to the airport! Only a 4-minute walk. There's a hot water kettle. Cons: The bed is small, and the duvet is thin and short (Are all Scandinavians that short?) – it doesn't even cover my feet. Superb and professional service. Big thank you to Wiloetta and Mateusz for making our stay so pleasant. They were very kind. Evening food was very good, perfectly cooked meat, thanks to the lady chef from Poland. Room was clean and cosy. Hotel itself well looked after. One thing about the breakfast selection, it's missing fruits. Overall top noch 👌
Lovely hotel on the Ring Road, which was extremely convenient. Room was spacious with a view of mountain in back and neighbor’s house (and greenhouse!). A shop with hand-made items is adjacent by a gas station, which was a fun stop. Breakfast had more options than most others that we experienced, and the elevator was also very convenient.
The rooms are a bit tired. That said, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was adequate, and the staff was friendly. Basic accommodations but for one night it was no problem.
We enjoyed our one night stay in June. Yes the place looks a bit older, but we were very happy and comfortable. Staff was excellent and friendly. Breakfast was good. I wish we would have eaten dinner there. It looked and smelled so good. (we ate at the local convenience store). Nice town, wonderful people, I'd stay there again
The location was very convenient and the room was comfortable. The only reason I gave one star off for comfort is because our room was directly above the entry door and people hung out below, and it was a little loud at times other than that it was a wonderful experience with delicious food at the restaurant. I would stay here again.

They have both independent cottages ( more expensive) and shared accommodation, but the shared accomodation was way more than we expected.
