We had a very pleasant stay at hotel oak forest. The rooms are quite big and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small but the shower is nice. The breakfast was good. The staff is very helpful even though they don't speak english very well. However with hands and some google translate we figured it out. The shuttle service to happo one ski area is good and always on time and they also have a shuttle service to spicy echoland ski rentals which is very convenient! You can even drop of your rental gear at the hotel and the rental shop will pick it up without you having to worry about bringing it back yourself. The onsen makes your stay even better and is nice after a long day of skiing. Thank you hotel oak forest!

We actually really enjoyed this stay - it was one of the only resorts left in echoland with availability, but it exceeded our expectations. Rooms were huge, the shuttle bus stop was exactly in front of the door and the staff at the lobby were so so friendly :) yes the hotel it’s a bit old fashioned in style, but nevertheless we had a great ski trip here

Had a really good stay at Oak Forest. Stay accommodated for English speaking guests and assist with luggage hold on day of check in and out. Breakfast provided was really good. Onsen was a welcome part of the stay after a day of ski.

Location is a bit inconvenient as it requires a decent walk or taxi to main bus terminal and other resorts. But there is accessible restaurants in walking decent to Echoland. The bus for pickup to resorts is directly in front of the hotel or short walk to Echoland spicy for the hakuba valley bus.

Overall recommend but would be amazing if hotel could assist in initial pickup and dropoff transfers to bus terminal for guests with luggage.

Affordable and great value for money. It has all the basic services, and the room is spacious. There's a shuttle bus that runs periodically, but it's more convenient if you drive yourself.

Although it's a bit far out, it's easy to find if you're driving, and they offer a shuttle service. Don't expect too much from the breakfast and dinner, as they're pretty standard. However, there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The on-site public bath is fantastic for soaking in after a day of skiing!

Convenient. Have pick up for arrival and bus to various ski resort just at door of hotel. Gd onsen to use.

We have stayed at this hotel for the past two Decembers. Overall, it is reasonably priced, conveniently located near the ski resorts, and has a bus shuttle stop right in front that runs between the hotel and the ski areas. The onsen is a great bonus, especially after a day of skiing.
However, I must say that the breakfast is not as good as last year, and the service has declined slightly compared to our previous stay. The open-air onsen is not as clean as before, and the indoor onsen also shows signs of neglect, with used towels piled in the corner.

We mainly went to Nagano for skiing and enjoying the snow, but the experience was terrible. Transportation in Hakuba Village is extremely inconvenient, especially since the hotel I booked was in a very remote location with no public transport access. Getting anywhere requires a taxi, with a starting fare of over 100 RMB to reach your destination. While there's a shuttle bus for skiing in the morning and evening, it's often late at night, which caused us delays. When it snowed, we couldn't even get a taxi and almost couldn't return to the hotel one night. In short, it was inconvenient in every way. The hotel itself wasn't good either; it was very old, the rooms had terrible soundproofing, so we couldn't rest properly. The floors were disgustingly dirty, and the blankets weren't clean. All in all, I never want to visit Hakuba Village again. It was a waste of time and money, and completely unenjoyable. ☹️

Going off the photos, we did not have high expectations but we can definitely say this place was such a great stay.

The rooms were super comfortable and very clean. We stayed in the Japanese room rooms and the mattresses were so comfortable

Such a close drive to every way you need to go and being so close to echo LAND was unreal

The Hansen was so good. Sitting in the outdoor oneson while it was snowing was a surreal experience.

Having a dry room while super convenient.

The only recommendation I would make for this place is to maybe replace the carpet in the hallways and common area due to a bit of a smoky musty smell. And saying this our house was very clean.

Very good service. Love that you could get ski passes at discount prices at the counter.

Coming back to Hakuba this is a place I would stay again

An older-style hotel, but very clean. It has separate onsens for men and women. Breakfast is served as individual sets. The hotel also has a dinner restaurant, which is convenient because going out to eat without a car isn't easy. The futon-style bedding was comfortable and warm. The bathroom was a bit small. It snowed while I was there, and it was beautiful because the hotel is located in the mountains.
