Love the peace and quiet! I love the privacy of a in-room onsen. Breakfast and dinner were really good. I will come back again
The room was absolutely beautiful! 🤩 The hot spring was also incredibly relaxing.
I stayed in a two-story room, so the two spaces were very separate and comfortable!
The bed was also very, very large!
The bamboo forest view from the window was absolutely stunning.
The Kaiseki cuisine is full of ritual, the hotel is very private, dinner and breakfast are in the room, so there is no public space in the hotel. Bathing is very comfortable, suitable for couples to travel.
Excellent value for money! Absolutely comfortable. Love it, will come back often.
Except for the high price, everything else is good, but there is only a mattress on the first floor, which is incomprehensible
The service was great, the open-air hot spring was very comfortable, and the dinner was delicious 😋

An absolutely amazing experience! I've stayed in countless top-tier hotels over the years, and Gōra Kadan is, without a doubt, the best!
The service was incredibly thoughtful. They offered on-demand shuttle service to all the attractions in Gora, which was a lifesaver, especially avoiding walking in the cold winter. I highly recommend booking a room with a private onsen, as the bookable private baths and the public bath don't compare to the experience of soaking in your own room.
Our stay at this luxury ryokan was simply magnificent in every aspect: the service, atmosphere, grounds, cleanliness, and the genuine care and attention to detail were all exceptional.
From the moment we arrived, we were treated with the utmost reverence and attentiveness, making us feel like honored guests and part of the ryokan family. As Russian guests, we were particularly impressed by the thoughtful...
Very suitable for family travel!
When we arrived, three hotel staff greeted us and helped us with our luggage. The whole accommodation experience was very good, with thoughtful details and a warm feeling. When we left the hotel, we sat in the lobby to enjoy the view. The manager took the initiative to serve tea and asked about our itinerary and needs. He sent a car to take us to Gora Station. I give it a thumbs up.
When checking in, the hotel will explain the tourist route of Hakone. It's a no-brainer to check in and just follow the map provided by the hotel.
The service exceeded my expectations. I felt like a princess returning home during my stay. I thought this was the standard Japanese service. But later I stayed in other hotels and found that the service of Gora Kadan is far better than other hotels of...

Massive snow form over the weekend of Feb 7-9 2026. Communication with the hotel was putting me on the verge of a mental breakdown because they weren’t giving us the most updated info. I had a big luggage with me and asked the staff if they could hrko me push it up the hill as the hotel is located at the bottom of a steep slope. This was not disclosed on the hotel website, which was deceiving. The...
A wonderful authentic Japanese experience. Great service despite us not speaking the same language (They are very adept at using Google translate). Good Location for Hakone Open Air Museum and for being able to get on the bus back to the station early before it gets so crowded it doesn't stop for more passengers. I didn't manage to use the pass for the baths over the road, but great to have that included...
The room size was pretty good, offering great value for money considering it's in the mountains and part of a well-known chain. We could even access the hot spring park at the sister hotel across the way, though we didn't go in since we weren't with kids. The complimentary dinner was a set menu, not the yakiniku buffet we initially thought, but with an extra dish, it was pretty much enough for two...
Great 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I stayed here for sightseeing in Hakone and to visit Yunessun. It's a tranquil ryokan with a small number of guests, so I could enjoy a peaceful stay. The room was spacious compared to a business hotel, very clean, and allowed for a relaxing time. I had already planned to visit an onsen, so the lack of a private bath wasn't an issue. Since there are few guest rooms, the public bath was almost like...
Overall, my stay was very satisfying. The hotel's location is convenient, with smooth traffic access nearby, making it perfect for both sightseeing and business trips.

This five-star hotel is absolutely wonderful! The hotel itself has a rich history, and there's even a museum inside that meticulously chronicles its past. The hotel garden is stunning and perfect for photos. The Japanese breakfast is a must-try; we enjoyed it so much that we had it for four consecutive mornings! What's more, the Japanese breakfast menu changes every three days, with each day offering...
This hotel is practically flawless. The facilities are excellent, the service is great, the food is delicious, the aesthetics are beautiful, and the location is perfect.
Some particular highlights include:
① The entire hotel is a scenic spot; you could spend half a day just exploring it. The adjacent shrine is directly connected to a hiking trail.
② Japanese breakfast requires a reservation, while...
The forest-view rooms are located in the wing built in the 1960s. The decor isn't just retro; it's genuinely vintage. You can tell they used quality materials and had good taste, but it definitely feels dated. The public bath is conveniently located on the 6th floor of the forest wing. The shower stalls have dividers, so privacy is decent. If you're not comfortable using the public bath, the hot water...
The hotel itself has a lot of character. As a century-old hot spring hotel, the architecture is quaint and grand, and the courtyard is huge, perfect for a long stroll and great for photos. The location is also very convenient with easy access to transportation. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, highly recommended.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Even though I had some understanding of it before booking, staying there in person truly revealed the unexpected delights. Incredible room and incredible food, we were in Japan for 2 weeks and ate in good restaurants the entire time and both the dinner and the breakfast a Hakone Suishoen were our best meals of the trip. This place is worth every penny.
Most luxurious hotel I have ever experienced: luxurious Room and luxurious service, highly recommended. I heard that they will start renovating in Oct though the hotel is still in perfect shape. I can’t wait to visit again when it reopens!!
The place was spotless, the environment was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though English wasn't their strong suit, they used translation apps effectively to communicate. We weren't aware they offered a pick-up service, so we took a taxi there. However, they kindly provided a drop-off service to the station when we left. They also patiently explained which station...
An unforgettable stay. From the moment of arrival to departure, we experienced the highest level of service and attention to detail. Our room and private onsen were extremely comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were the best food we had during our stay in Japan. We will absolutely return and in the meantime highly recommend Hakone Suishoen to the discerning traveler.
We got the two floor marionette room. The private onsen is a game changer for me and my family. My toddler enjoyed the peaceful grounds. It is a close walk to Yunesson park if you have kids that want to water play. Their keiseki dinner meal was delicious and they even set up a bed for our toddler who used it almost as soon as we arrived. The breakfast was also delicious. Would come again.
Absolutely exceeded my expectations! The hotel is stunning, and the rooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable – even better than the photos on the app. The restaurant also served excellent food, though you absolutely need to book in advance. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fabulous. The finest hotel, the finest services, the best hotspring setvice and superb food. Will always want to come back.
Our family of four stayed here in the suite. Experience was fantastic in every way.
Service was top notch from the moment you step foot until you leave.

Wonderful experience. The rooms and views are fantastic, and the staff goes above and beyond to help. Thank you!!
Ryokan with a modern twist. Appreciate the convenience of an in room onsen in our suite. Have all the modern conveniences and yet have a ryokan experience. Kaiseki dinners in partitioned enclosures lent some privacy.
Everything about the stay here was exceptional. Staff were incredibly well mannered and couldn't do enough to help us. We were able to get a pick up from Gora station to the hotel, and found it to be an easy experience.
They gave a quick tour of facilities upon check-in, even an escort to the room. Carried baggage from driveway and deposited to our room. I was the only one in the public bath at 5pm. The meals were amazing. While unable to accommodate gluten free diet with traditional cooking, they were very kind in informing which dishes had gluten. 5/5 you should stay here

I cannot say enough positive things about this beautiful and relaxing ryokan. The setting is stunning and a perfect example of Japanese gardens. The private bath is really a plus! There are four and no wait line. I had used it twice during my overnight stay.
The Japanese dinner is quite delicious too!
The surprise was that it snowed, adding extra aesthetic touch.
Both bed was sunken in. Room was clean and big definitely worth the money. However staff was unfriendly and couldn't understand English much
This is a Showa-era style ryokan. There's a bus stop right outside, but no shops nearby. Unless you book meals at the hotel in advance, you'll need to travel a few stops to find food. Breakfast was decent. However, the facilities are old and not very well-maintained, especially the hot springs, which weren't clean at all and quite dirty.
This hotel was a bit aged but well maintained. They have both public and private bath for the guest to use. Some facilities is not very convenient but still usable.
Great location to experience the beautiful landscape.
A nice but dated hotel
So this is a recommendation. This hotel sits about mid way on the mountain and a ten minute walk down the road will put you at the rope way to Owadaunuki and the Aishi Cruise Boat.

Super love this ryokan especially the meals included (breakfast and dinner). Very good hospitality by staff. Would definitely recommend if anyone would like to experience the Japanese culture and onsen in this beautiful town
A nice hotel with excellent onsen and a pleasant mountain view from the room. The men's and women's baths are switched every evening so you can try both. The food is an acquired taste; I found it too pickled and not enough fish and meat. A delicious dessert was available for breakfast. There were missing instructions on how to make your futon; it would be nice to have some for foreigners staying at...
Location is good. Need to walk about 6 mins from the station. nice view from the window. Onsen is quite good, hot water, bubble tube, big outdoor tube. Food is so much delicious, a lot of plates with different dishes. But not all japanese cuisine, more kind of mixed. But still realy good. Thanks for the stay, we’ll definetly book again, when return!
It's a fairly traditional Japanese inn; the breakfast and dinner were decent, and the staff were very welcoming.
The soundproofing was a bit poor, but otherwise it was quite good. For the price in Hakone, it's pretty good value, and with the Hakone Free Pass, it's convenient to take the train to Gora. It's about a 7-10 minute walk to the station.
Pretty nice place and very kind staff
Nice rooms with mountain view as well as onsen. They are good!
The seat is a short walk from the station, and it's a bit tiring to drag the suitcase but it's acceptable. Most of the guests staying here are Japanese, and there are few foreigners. The dinner and breakfast provided by the hotel are both rich and delicious, which is a reason to come again.

A very classic Japanese hot spring hotel, but the room is really a bit old, the maintenance is not very good, and the surrounding area is also boring
This is our favorite hotel during our 10-day trip to Japan. It is like a journey through time and space. The service provided by the hostess is refreshing and unforgettable!

An ok place which we stayed at cause we booked late and most places were sold out. It was basic and functional, but needs a refurb. Bathroom was extremely small as can be the way in Japan. The bathroom taps/shower were a bit of a nightmare to get to a decent temperature and volume.

This was a place I can only enjoy as a one-time stay. I can't see myself going back again with my family.
The place is a little old, so the walls are thin and you can hear the people next door. They will give you earplugs, so if you have troubles sleeping you can use them. However, the problem of your neighbours hearing you is not solved.
If you have baby screaming, they can hear you.

Very cool older Ryokan. The age is part of its charm. The staff were so friendly and helpful and accommodating. The breakfast and dinner buffets had a nice selection of foods and the beer pouring machine was great. I was able to drive to many spots from this location. If you’re not driving then plan on lots of walking up hills and I did that one day and I was huffing and puffing. Haha
like this hotel, value for money. they have indoor and outdoor onsen. reception staff speak fluent english and very helpful to help us to make a toll free call to tokyo.
Hotel was ok. No wow effect. Everything seemed a bit old. Staff was helpful and polite.

Lovely breakfast and dinner.
Facilities were clean and functioning well.
Staff was kind and helpful.
The location is a bit uphill, prepare to walk on an incline for 5 minutes.
When we arrived, we were given a welcome drink and snacks, and then we took a short break and went into the hot springs. The food was excellent, and the staff were all nice. I would love to stay here again.
This was my third time here and I was once again very satisfied with the consistent service and food.
The food in particular was creative and delicious, with dishes that I wouldn't normally be able to eat.
I'll definitely come back when I want to relax.
What a beautiful area. Serene environment. Prebooking of hot stone spa and jacuzzi were easily done once registration online was complete.
The hot spring is only public and is charged on top of the room rate.
The mountain view is OK, but unfortunately we didn't encounter good weather.

A lovely authentic Japanese experience.
Very welcoming hosts.
Food was plentiful and to a high standard just not to my Western palate. Very fish orientated. A menu would have been good to help identify some of the dishes.

Lovely experience staying here. Our Wa Fuu room was modern, clean and provisioned with exquisitely comfortable floor-beds, as well a constantly-flowing private onsen with well-kept shower fixtures and tiling. The food is high quality Japanese, the room was spacious, clean and quiet and the staff were very kind and considerate. It really was a good break for a couple of nights.

The service here is incredibly thoughtful. You can communicate directly if you have any needs, and Mr. Zhang at the reception was meticulously attentive to all our requirements. There's also a laundry service. Most importantly, if you're driving, Hakone can be quite challenging with its narrow roads, so be careful!
The location is a bit secluded. The staff keep a clean environment. The service here is excellent. The facilities are good, however besides onsen and food, there isn't much else to do. The uncharges are a bit steep
Try it to experience the service and facility.
The service was excellent, professional, and very attentive. The in-room amenities were premium and had a luxurious feel. The towels and hot spring attire were made from high-quality material and felt wonderful. It's an excellent choice for a hot spring inn.
Italian restaurant is so good! Food and View are good! Definitely will back again
the best in every way except transportations are needed to be planned in advance. quite up on the hill with a very good view

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Shiunso. The meals were incredible and both private onsens, as well as the private bath in our room, were amazing. All staff were kind and helpful. We left feeling very restored and relaxed. Highly recommended!
If you are wanting traditional Japanese, we had dinner and breakfast in our room with Japanese Bath included absolutely awesome highly recommended if you want old school Japanese hotel.
We had a room with a private onsen which was beautiful and overlooked the river. It was so lovely to hear the water rushing and all the nature sounds. We had dinner and breakfast included, traditional multi course Japanese meals.
Lovely ryokan with amazing food !! Highly recommend the private baths too for anyone that’s new to onsen experience. 😆
Loved staying here to relax. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Although limited English, communication was not an issue. Loved the private onsen as well as the one in our room. Also very close to the bus stop without fear of being too close to cars, since going into the city there’s really not a sidewalk
Fantastic service. Fantastic food. No complaints.
