The service was good. There were only 10 baths, so it was understandable that they were small. The food was satisfying, with a wide variety of dishes.
It feels like a family style. Fortunately, my sister can communicate in Japanese so it is smooth. The service is very good. The two meals are also good. You can eat a lot. I confirmed with the boss that it doesn't matter if you have tattoos. And there was no one there when I went to take a bath twice. The boss was very considerate and the service was very good and enthusiastic. Although it is not as...
There is a sloped road from the parking lot to the hotel, which makes it inconvenient to push suitcases. However, the proprietress is polite and willing to help deliver the luggage to the parking lot. The location is very close to Sounzan Station.
location along cable car from gora to sozcan station. family like ambience. both breakfasts and dinners excellent in traditional Japanese style. onsen keep you warm in chilly weather. owner very kind and sent us to gora train station in the rain. thank you for the nice stay.
NICE HOTEL the meal is good and the hot spring so nice with a nice price
The store manager is very nice, although communication is a bit difficult. When we went there, we had no idea where the hotel was located. After calling our aunt, she immediately drove to pick us up. Take the cable car at , get off at Kamigora Station, and get off at the right door in the direction in which the car is traveling. Be sure to remember to use the right door! Otherwise, my legs would really...

We had to unexpectedly stay in Hakone for one night longer than we thought, and there were actually no available hotels. We booked this hotel, a little scared by the reviews, but everything went great! We ve booked through Booking.com and there was no fraud. The room is in a traditional style, clean, with a very beautiful view of the mountains. There is no shower in the room, you can only take a shower...
Before I booked this hotel, I really didn’t check the reviews first but thankfully it was okay. I’ve read later on that it was a “scam hotel” if you booked from Booking. I booked this hotel thru Agoda and it went fine. The hotel looks nice and elegant from their website pictures, but it was old and has a weird smell like a tire smell something like that inside the rooms. The rooms are spacious tho...
There is a ********* customer service, the service is very good
Very nice hosts who were very helpful! The lobby is very luxurious and the hotel offers many amenities, snacks and drinks. Hosts had great recommendations where to eat, hike, what bus to take, etc. The onsen is open from early morning until late in the evening and is very clean. Bathropes are given. Hotel has a great pool table. The rooms have a nice view over the area which you can enjoy from luxurious...
A very cost-effective Japanese-style hot spring hotel with convenient food nearby.
Nestled on a quiet hilltop in the small village of Ohiradai the Harriway Summit View Onsen Hotel is a perfect rest stop for those visiting the Hakone area. The location is serene and quiet with stunning views and the divine sound of spring water trickling through the town. For those on the free pass doing the Hakone loop; simply start at Hakone-yumoto station and head towards Motohakone-ko and you...

This place needs renovation. I was surprised with the amount of rust not only in hot spring area, but in the room too. And just the overall experience. I'm soory, but I don't recommend this place
I went on a two-day, one-night hot springs trip from Tokyo to Hakone! My boyfriend and I were looking for a casual, two-day trip, and we decided on Hakone, a tourist destination with great hot springs and fresh air. First of all, there's a train from Shinjuku to Hakone, so it was very accessible. And once we arrived in Hakone, we could take the opposite train to Goura Station, the station closest...
This is one of the best places I stayed! Thank you very much! The hotel is located a little bit far from the train station and I think this is the only downside (and I didn't suffer from it). The price is expensive, but it is worth it because 2 meals are included, and they have great service. The staff is from Nepal so if someone comes here and expects Japanese, they may be disappointed by that. But...

The ryokan is conveniently located. The parking lot offers a picturesque view of the mountains. The ryokan itself is certainly old and tired, but it still has the atmosphere of that anime-inspired place. The baths are good, though the public ones were a bit crowded. There are private ones for couples! The kaiseki dinner and breakfast are delicious! The service is top-notch. It would be a very pleasant...
Overall, the impression is positive, and we thank the staff for their care. However, the ryokan is quite old, and inside all the rooms there is a smell of age, which makes it not very pleasant to stay there. The Japanese food is very specific — it’s just my personal taste, but I couldn’t have breakfast or lunch there. Considering that this was the most expensive “hotel” during our 14-day trip around...

Very friendly and helpful reception. He drove us to the station. Also the lady in the restaurant. The food was excellent. Lot of fresh seafood. Sauna and public onsen were great. We also got timeslot for private onsen. The location is about 10 minutes walk from station but quite hilly road. It was a nice walk when we did not drag our luggages. View from our room was excellent
The hotel does not provide body towels, and you have to pay 500 yen for one. Shared toilet, and you have to wait to go in the cubicle. The ambient is a little creepy 😅
We stayed here to be close to the train station. I guess we didn't realize it was a double bed room with no private bath (it turned out to not be busy, so it wasn't a problem). But no bathroom amenities available, no towels and no clear place to take a shower. The beds were ridiculously hard (I've slept on grounds while camping that were softer than these beds). Staff was very pleasant to interact...
It was a room-only stay. It would be perfect if they increased the number of shared toilet stalls! Also, I wish there was Wi-Fi in the rooms.
For a one-night stay package that included two meals, all-you-can-drink alcohol, and a private onsen, it was absolutely flawless. The service was very friendly, although their English was a bit limited. Definitely the best value for money in Hakone Yumoto!
The room was a decent size. The pajamas provided were very comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious! The subway station is right across the street, just a stone's throw away. The area is very quiet, and a morning stroll around the Imperial Palace was lovely.

Great place to stay in Hakone, we really enjoyed our 2 nights stay which included breakfast (good variety and fresh!). The onsen was also a nice surprise in the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are soft and comfortable. The staff is super friendly.
One of the best decisions I made is staying here. Hotels in Hakone area are pricey. WPU hotel is more affordable compared to others in the area. The staff are really nice. The room is clean. We can see the sunrise from our room. Other guests are friendly. Nice breakfast. Nice onsen. The hotel is located right outside Gora Station. Very convenient with buses, train, or cable car connection. We use...
The hotel is well located to visit Hakone. The bedrooms are very comfortable especially with the private onsen. The walls are thin, it may little bit noisy. Light sleepers may be disturbed. The staff is professionnal and accommodating. The dinner taste good and copious.
Very good hotel. Can get a bit loud in the room in the morning- if your windows are facing the Main Street. Sound isolation is not the strongest side of the rooms design. They provide earplugs tho. Very clean. Very good breakfast - scrambled eggs were perfect. Onsen is nice and accommodations are top level.
Its located right outside the train station. I stayed here 1 night during my Hakone visit and I am so glad for this place because the hotel I stayed in prior night was just awful (separate review on it) Room was spacious and clean. They do have an onsen which was also pretty clean and nice. I had a shared bathroom, which I not always a fan of but it was clean and gender separated. Breakfast was good...

We were very happy with this onsen hotel. Our room was very large, the western style beds were great and the bathroom was terrific. The onsen was clean and the water temperature perfect. Stayed in a very beautiful, spacious traditional japanese room. Service was great. Very nice personnel that provided me and my friend with beautiful Yukatas to wear after bath. Onsen was small but still beautiful and clean. Had a really great experience here.
Such a beautiful sight to behold. Placed between the gorgeous Hakone forest trees. Inside it's quite modern but with a strong Japanese feel. The room was decent, and the private hot spring was good too. The only downside was the lack of a car; climbing up the mountain was exhausting. Dinner needed to be booked three days in advance, but I couldn't find any information about it, and not wanting to climb back down, I had to buy instant noodles at the hotel. The service was alright, supposedly 24-hour. Overall, it was okay; having a car would...
You have to walk uphill with your luggage, which is inconvenient because the slope is very steep, especially for the elderly. Since it's deep in the mountains, getting food is only convenient for those with a car; otherwise, it will be very arduous. However, instant noodles are available at the restaurants.
The interior is quite good. The environment is nice and the cleanliness is excellent. It was a great experience. I hope to stay here again if I have the chance. The front desk staff was very friendly and the check-in process was very smooth.
I really liked the onsen and the in room onsen. The property area seems kind of dangerous if it snows but it’s in a nice somewhat secluded place. Wish it had mover of a view from my room when using the in room onsen.
Staff were extremely cordial. Getting to the accommodation via public transport can be a bit of a penance as you can either take a bus or a taxi however i found taking the bus to be the only option as there were limited taxis in the area and waited roughly 10mins to find one. Upon leaving the bus stop you'll find yourself walking up multiple hills to finally reach your destination. I strongly recommend...
Tradional style onsen resort. Limited parking space available. There is a long staircase in front of the resort so please be aware if you are bringing large luggage. Room is spacious and the open-air bath is larger than expected. Public bath is also comfortable. Very nice place to relax.

Great location, good overall experience, and high-quality food. The only downside is the small size of the hot tub, but it doesn't affect the overall enjoyment.
Had the best stay at this ryokan which is located near a bus stop and the Hakone-Yamamoto station (500m away), making it easy and convenient to get around. Love the onsen and the kaseiki dinner was sumptuous and delicious. Staff are very nice and helpful. Highly recommend

We checked in after 9 PM, and the hotel receptionist had someone help us with the check-in. The hotel's main onsen (hot spring) is closed until 10 PM, but we could still use the small underground bathroom next door afterwards. Although it's small, it was more than enough for the four of us, and the onsen water was excellent; we felt very comfortable afterward. The hotel room was also nice; it was spacious...
This was a good place to stay: nice rooms, nice breakfast (I didn't have dinner), a central location that was still quiet, nice indoor hot spring. Somehow I never timed the outdoor hot spring right, which is disappointing. The staff was exceptionally friendly. Not a "luxury" experience, but a simple enjoyable one.
We had an amazing stay here! The staff were so welcoming and hospitable, answering all of our questions and helping with our bags. They also helped us with suggestions on what to do around Hakone. The onsen baths were perfect for both of us and the best thing at the end of a long day! 10/10 would love to stay here again. Thank you

Such an amazing experience!! Experienced the best hospitality from the couple that owns this ryokan - they did everything to make sure our stay was perfect. The room, onsen, and ryokan as a whole were all fabulous.
Tsukinoya is easily the most magical place we’ve ever stayed. We stayed three nights, but wish that we’d stayed longer. The couple who own Tsukinoya are the sweetest, most helpful people. The gentleman carried our luggage up three flights of stairs to our room, and insisted on driving us to our destination multiple times. The onsen honestly was a life-changer. We used the one on the first floor and...
This place is absolutely special and we 100% recommend it. We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities and the Hakone area seemed to have everything we needed. We also wanted to try a traditional ryokan and this place hit all the check points: it is traditional, maybe a little outdated but it is part of the charm, in a good area and it has 2 onsens which you can use it private...
To start with, I think it was a really good experience. There are two onsen in the facility which is available for 24 hours. Both of them are private so you will not be sharing with anyone else. The owners were really good people, especially okamisan. She was really caring and always helped us during our stay. The restaurants and facilities around the ryokan is limited. This traditional ryokan has a private onsen, with a traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats, we had a magical experience staying here. We transformed back to old time Japan. Wonderful hosts- the best part of our stay were the owners. They drove us to dinner and Gora, gave us waters for our outings and made us feel like family. The rooms were comfortable and the hot springs were great. Easy to reserve the onsen, private toilet. You shower where you do the onsen. A highlight of our trip!

The bathroom is shared! There's a sink in the room, but going to the bathroom in the early morning can be inconvenient. If you don't know the location, it might be difficult to get there. Buying a local free pass is convenient. The food is so delicious that it's worth all the inconveniences mentioned above. Highly recommended!
Great service and good value for money on the food! 👍 The bathroom is a bit old though. 🙃
The building felt a little worn, but everything was exceptionally clean and functional. We liked our traditional Japanese room. I was afraid that we'd be cold there in November but we managed to heat the room really well with the AC. We could easily book a private onsen room just for us upon arrival. Nice and very helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were huge!!! with lots of different dishes to try
Very satisfied, such a historic hotel is in a great location. The food is good and the accommodation is also good and satisfactory 👍
This is a surprisingly old hotel. While many of the amenities are dated and some rooms lack private bathrooms, my personal experience makes it highly recommended. I stumbled upon a deal on Ctrip and booked a room with an indoor hot spring bath and private bathroom. Each room has a different name. We stayed in Chidori, which was on the second floor without an elevator, so we had to carry our luggage...
The building is old, but it's close to the bus stop and easy to find. The service is excellent, and everyone is very friendly. I was surprised to see alcohol included in the welcome drink, but I was even more impressed by the all-you-can-drink option at dinner. I had a very enjoyable and relaxing time.

We stayed here for two nights of our honeymoon trip to Japan - wish we had stayed longer! The hotel itself had beautiful interiors.

Room is good, but the shower room is on the ground floor same place with the hot spring, the bus stop is nearby to the train station, however there is no supermarket or restaurant nearby, you have to take the bus to get there, hotel is quite far from the train station that the bus fare is not cheap
An older traditional ryokan. The hostess was so kind and provided delicious meals. There is a small onsen available as well.
You can't store your luggage. Extra charges apply for extended periods, but there are no luggage lockers in Sengokuhara. Also, something strange happened that night. At midnight, the TV suddenly turned on by itself, giving me a start.

Coolest hostel I have ever stayed in Japan, the staff was so friendly and everyday was a vibe. I really enjoyed talking with the staff at night, also met some really cool solo travelers as well. The kitchen is super nice and spacious and the dinner is super cute.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and they even had a campfire BBQ at night. The hotel has a kitchen, so you can buy ingredients and cook for yourself, and there's a 7-Eleven and Lawson nearby, which is really convenient for grabbing things. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I plan to recommend it to my friends.

Comfortable, friendly, traditional guesthouse in a beautiful location in Hakone. The hosts were very welcoming, and very helpful with local knowledge and directions (including beforehand by email!). A great place to stay to explore Hakone.
The owner here is extremely friendly and sociable, she will be able to talk to you all night if you want to. The one night we were there, other guests drew paintings together all night and also 2 of the guests made takoyaki and shared it with everyone else. No onsen unfortunately.
Lena-San is the best host. I had a traditional Tatami room, it was wonderful and very authentic. She provided me with all the information I needed and made a very good breakfast. The evening kitchen round with the other guests was very funny. I was really sorry to leave after just one night. Lena-San speaks very good English. 5/5 would book again!
Really great accomodation for the price. The owner and her mother were very friendly. The bed was so comfy! One of the best nights sleeps I’ve had in this sort of guest house/hostel environment. It is a few minutes walk to the bus stop and the host was very helpful and friendly, providing great suggestions and offering advice about the local area. Would definitely recommend! Thanks again.
A fantastic place to stay, the owner snd her daughter are lovely and very helpful. They can give you all the info you need on restaurants, hot springs and transport. The kitchen facilities are excellent, you can use the washing machine for free and in June they can take you to see fireflies at night.

Cozy guesthouse in Hakone, ideal for couples or to travel alone. Comfy matress and bedding and facilities are very clean too. Friendly owners and staff. Highly recommended, would visit again :-)
I chose this hotel because of its price and proximity to the station, but it was even more comfortable than I expected. The staff were friendly, I was allowed to bring my towels into the hot springs, and the beds and shared showers were well-cleaned. Overall, it was a great stay!
The hostel was really clean, and the beds were surprisingly spacious. Every area was spotless. The lady at the front desk was super friendly; we chatted a lot, and she even helped me plan my itinerary. She even said goodnight to me when she saw me still in the kitchen in the evening. A really great experience! 👍
A unique place. It's a small box, and while it's not far to anywhere in Hakone, it's a steep climb to the hotel. The hot water taps are a bit odd. The girl at reception is very friendly and speaks excellent English, and explains everything in detail. I asked to reserve a hot spring, and she agreed without any problem (everything was booked in the end).
Facilities: Outdated Cleanliness: Meets standards Environment: Actually very good, with a great atmosphere. The beds are the largest I've ever stayed in; four people could easily sleep in one. Service: Average. You can ask someone to help with your luggage, but it's a bit awkward to ask female staff for help. Most things are self-service, but there's a kitchen available, and you can also order food...
The environment was fine, and the facilities were complete. However, the blankets smelled strongly of body odor, which was awful. The quality of the bedding needs improvement.

The location is easy to find, just opposite the famous Hotel Fujiya. Get off at Miyanoshita Station and it's not far away, or take the bus to Miyanoshita Onsen. The administrator is super nice! He will recommend you a route and ask if you want to go to the hot springs. He will also tell you what activities are happening in Hakone recently. The hostel is a room with four beds. The location is first...
A very pleasant stay! The location is great. Next to the bus station, there are many buses. Whether you go to Odawara or Gora, it is the only way to go. The service is very good. The landlady can speak English and introduces restaurants and hot springs to us very kindly. She also enthusiastically helps us make reservations by phone and does her best to help guests. The environment is very clean, the...
Perfect good hostel, but the staff did not wear masks consistently and it made me uncomfortable. If they do not plan to wear masks, they should make this clear on their website. Otherwise it was clean, comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and nice to talk to.
Old shabby Guest House (really 1914) in old Post Office. Shabby bunk rooms. Private tatami rooms. Thin walls. Tiny kitchen. No pubic onsen baths nearby. Why go to Hakone when you can't soak in a hot spring? Lovely super helpful staff. Limited eating options.
Had a lovely stay! Great budget option that’s connected really well to all the nearby sights. Clean and has all the basic amenities. A couple of Onsen nearby and the owner can help you reserve etc. Kana-san, the owner, is incredibly friendly and so so helpful! Thank you!

Nice guesthouse in the mountain. Very helpful and nice staff. Privacy in dorm. Onsen in the shower.
If you're particular about dust on windowsills and walls, or the hygiene of bedding (excluding the covers), you might want to reconsider booking. While the duvet cover was clean, it's just a single cover, so as you toss and turn in your sleep, your body inevitably touches the duvet itself. However, considering the insane accommodation prices in Hakone, this place is incredibly, truly cheap! The location...
Our first Rykon experience was so memorable for us. We enjoyed every moment of it. The service was perfect. Room service was so enjoyable. The only thing that I didn’t like was the food, food was ok, it wasn’t as perfect as other services. Also I would like to have some options to choose between for the food not being obligated for just one type of dish. Private onsen was the best part. It was so quite
My husband and I visited Hakone Tokinoshizuku in December 2025 and the stayed in the deluxe room La Tache. The Service was incredible., our concierge Yuka gave us a wonderful and personalized experience. We definitely would return for the wonderful meals served in our room and the private open air onsen among the trees. Our room was traditional Japanese style and was very charming down to every detail...
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, amazing view. The private Onsen was so relaxing, especially in the cooler weather. We had the five-course dinner and breakfast all delivered to our room. Special thanks to Yurika-san for explaining our meals and making us feel at home. The whole experience was unforgettable. One of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. Felt more like an apartment.
Nice guesthouse, very cosy and calm. We stayed in the family room which can fit for up to 6 persons, it was big enough and the futon were confortables. The bar serves some basic foods which is ok but I would recommand to eat in one of the restaurants in town if you want something really tasty, it's not far away (10-15 minutes walk).

Hakone Gora Onsen Mizu no Kaori - Hostel, Hakone1 / 28

Hakone, 1321-395 Gora, Ashigarashimo-gun (7 km from centre) 🧭 Map
The location is average, the hotel may be too old, the room is a bit damaged and rusty, the hot spring is too small, the facilities are a bit old, there is no view from the window, one night and two meals are not surprising, the cost performance is not high
This hot spring inn is about a 15-minute walk from Sounzan Station on the cable car line. There is a steep slope on the way there, so if you have concerns about your legs, I recommend asking the inn for a free shuttle to Gora Station. The inn is a little old, but it is kept clean. Both the food and the hot springs exceeded my expectations, so I was very satisfied.
The ryokan is not far from the Sonzan ropeway station, about 10 minutes on foot. If you agree in advance, they can meet you by car for free, and also take you to the station when you leave. The public onsen is so-so, I recommend taking a private one for 2000 yen for 45 minutes. It is outdoors and has more atmosphere. I liked the kaiseki, the breakfast is also in Japanese style. In general, the atmosphere...
Ruixiang is really good. It is a very traditional Japanese hot spring hotel with a sense of age. Although it has a sense of age, it is very clean and has a high overall quality. Several Japanese aunts are very cute and keep the hotel in order. The boss is very good and patient and helped me a lot. The location of the hotel is very secluded and surrounded by forests, but the hotel shuttle bus is very...
Such a great find! Calming ryokan in a peaceful part of the mountain. Staff were all super friendly and accommodating of us as tourists who didn’t speak Japanese. Every meal was delicious and the staff took time to tell us what each little dish was and even gave us some extra mini dishes to help us try different things. They were all delicious! The onsens were also very relaxing and had everything...
O quarto é tradicional japonês, sem muitos luxos. A onsen é bem agradável. A comida é bem gostosa e tradicional.
