We had the best stay here... large 2 story room.. lots of fpod breakfast and dinner.
Very accomodating and friendly staff.. highly recommended specially if you love onsen.
Absolutely top notch service, highest quality food and stunning views. Fine dining from a Michelin Star restroom served in your private room.
Pros
Michelin 1 star
Very spacious
Cons
Priced $1000-2000/night
Room showed some wear and tear
Floor is not solid and ceiling shows some leaking
No bedside lighting
No towel bar
Carpet needs to be replaced
They removed TV from the bedroom

For our return visit to the area, we decided to try out Ryotei Hanzuiryo, the most famous and luxurious of the Unzen ryokans, and among the most renowned properties in the entire country. Hoping to snag one of the two Tokubetsu Shitsu (Special Rooms) with open-air bath, we called them 9 months prior to our planned visit (when booking online, they only start accepting reservations 8 months out.) Winding mountain road a fifteen minute walk or three minute drive from Unzen Jigoku. Staff were all very friendly. Kyushu, Kirishima, 3590-34 Makizonocho-Takachiho 🧭 Map
Our stay was memorable, enjoyable, and relaxing. Service was impeccable and food delicious. I highly recommend it.
Isshin is a very private ryokan which can host only 7 separate house at a time. The facility is really peaceful and we were really enjoyed out indoor and outdoor private onsen in our house throughout our two day stay. The dinner and breakfast are also setup in separate room for each guest and the food were also top class. Really recommend for those who want to enjoy the peaceful nature in Kirishima
The environment is first-class and the hot springs are fantastic.
Facilities, service, staff attitude, etc. are all excellent without any shortcomings.
The price was high, but it was worth it.
I had a good rest.
The room was big and clean. There are hot springs both indoors and outdoors. In the slightly cool autumn weather, soaking in the hot springs in this comfortable environment is very relaxing. The food was also very good. However, due to the tight schedule, we checked out the next day without staying too late. I suggest you reserve more time when staying at this hotel.
Stayed as a family of three. A detached house. Open-air bath and indoor bath with running water. Meals in a private room. Japanese-Western style room. Barrier-free. It seems like there aren't many inns that meet all of these criteria. What's more, the food and hospitality are of a high level. I told them in advance about my bad legs and other handicap information, and they responded as well as I expected...

Excellent Ryokan with Kaiseki
Pretty Clean Hot springs.
kind staffs.
excellent Food.
stayed 1st grade Wagu bundle.
2 tumbs up recommended to stay.
but only 1 day can stay.
A hot spring inn overlooking the majestic Mt. Yufu, the symbol of Yufuin. There are 10 rooms in total, including 5 detached detached buildings and 5 separate buildings in the forest. All rooms have a semi-open-air bath with natural hot spring water, 3 of which have an open-air bath. The view of Mt. Yufu, bathed in the morning sun and evening sun in the clear air, will soothe your soul. And above all...
This was by far the best Ryokan experience we had in all aspects and the price reflects it (T_T). We got the room with a view of Mt. Yufu and it was amazing to soak in the onsen while watching the sunset and sunrise. This seems to be a very small Ryokan, with maybe 10-12 isolated rooms. The kaiseki here was our favorite of the 4 ryokans we stayed at during our trip. I was introduced to hojicha gelato...
This is my first attempt at writing a Google review because my experience was so good. The cuisine was delightful, the staff were helpful, and the view was breathtaking (a vantage point to witness the sunrise, snow and all of yufuin town while soaking in the onsen).
As someone coming from Hong Kong, I want to say that language barrier is not a concern. The establishment will arrange English-speaking...
We have been to about 4 onsen trip now and this is the 5th onsen we stayed and I must say, all the previous 4 of them can't compare to this. The location can be access if you take a car, but I am sure you can arrange with them to pick you up somewhere. This is also the reason why the location was quiet and peaceful. The greenery was way too awesome. A balcony that look over the mountains, and you...
Very nice private Hot-Spring, spacious & comfortable private villa and very amicable, kind 'omotenasi' personal services. Taiwanese staff Ms. Lee was
very supportive wth professional attitude. We've enjoyed this Ryokan very much....

I always stay here whenever I come to Okinawa! The environment is fantastic, with two rooms and a courtyard. The breakfast is also excellent, and there are children's meal options. I definitely want to stay here again next time.
We had a wonderful trip. There was a private pool where the family could play by themselves, so it's perfect for those with small children. We chose a plan that included breakfast. Our meal was delicious, but since it wasn't a buffet, it might not be enough for those who like to eat a lot.
As it's adjacent to the golf course, we were able to use the large public bath and sauna in the clubhouse for...
The room is clean and tidy. The facility is great and the staff are all friendly and helpful. We didn’t use the pool, because the pool has a lot of floating insects on the surface and there’s no flow/movement in pool water. Everything is perfect, it would be great if they can fix the pool.
A great and relaxing hotel. The whole family had a wonderful day here. There are many restaurants within a 5-minute walk. Check in early because it's difficult to find your room on the hill without streetlights. The breakfast is a set menu and is also delicious.
The private swimming pool is beautiful

Room was very great (Overkill for a solo traveller but yolo).
Services are also terrific, staff are very helpful, as expected from a hotel of such calibre.
Food was outstanding.
Close to bus stop if you opt for public transport, do note that the buses don’t run frequently.
My room had independent onsen, both indoors and outdoors. It was great.
The room had everything you need, facilities are sufficient...
This ryokan was a superb experience. We got the impression it doesn’t see many foreign tourists, but the team did a great job of looking after us. The food was of a very high quality and the chicken sashimi (yes, look it up) was delicious. Our huge room with private indoor and outdoor onsens was just a dream and we truly enjoyed it. Kirishima Onsen doesn’t have a major appeal outside the individual...
Overall it's OK, there's an outdoor public hot spring pool, and the rooms have private pools. Breakfast and dinner are provided, and the food is OK. It's not a buffet, it's provided by the hotel. You only know what food is available when you open the meal that day, and the taste is OK.
The hotel service is very attentive and the room is large and comfortable.
The hot spring in the room is very comfortable, and there is also an open-air bath available.
The meals in the evening and morning were excellent and featured local specialities.
I love the hot springs, the food, and the amount of food, and all the other hospitality, so I've been using this inn every year for the past few years on special occasions. It's an inn I'd like to recommend to my close friends.
The dinner is super. Room is up to standard. Private open-air onsen is good. The service lady is smart and looks cheerful. She can handle all works from front desk to room setting. We finally met her at dinner time.

Perhaps it was because I had high expectations due to the high reviews, but the bathroom, toilet, terrace, and room doors all showed signs of wear. This isn't due to unsanitary conditions, but rather deterioration over time.
However, the ceilings were high, and I felt comfortable lying in bed and looking up at the ceiling.
A wonderful setting right in front of the ocean 😀
It's a wonderful environment where you can have the beach all to yourself.
Not only was the shuttle to the dock provided, but I also appreciated the shopping and dining options, and the thoughtfulness of the staff.
Also... breakfast was delicious...
Very attentive staff, both in providing transportation and helping us with excursions.
A very beautiful location, a bit isolated.
Book in advance to rent a car from Ohara, otherwise, there won't be any rentals.

Lovely ryokan in Beppu, room is very spacious with western or japanese style beds to choose as sleeping option in the room. Sound of waterfall from room terrace is very relaxing. Onsen is very soothing
The staff were attentive and attentive. The room was a private Japanese-style garden room, fully and meticulously furnished. The hot spring water (described as originating from a gold vein) felt wonderful. There is a shuttle bus to and from Beppu Station (reservations required), the journey takes about five minutes, which is very convenient.
The environment and service are very good, but the hardware facilities are really not good. The public hot spring is outdoors and looks like a wild hot spring. The private hot spring is outdoors. There is no heating in the changing area, and there is not even a hair dryer. One person fell ill after taking a hot spring bath on the first day. He caught a cold and had a fever. On the second day, another...
The service staff are very polite, the shuttle bus is great, the meals are delicious, and the tableside service is excellent!
The room is big, the breakfast is good, the location is also good, the service is good, and the guests are greeted with a smile. It is a recommended hotel with good hygiene and good facilities. I give it a thumbs up manually. It is the best experience
The JR Fukuoka Limited Express Sonic takes about 2 hours to JR Beppu Station. After exiting the station, you will be directed to the Tourist Information Center at the east exit. You can ask the lady to contact the hotel for pick-up service. The hotel's shuttle buses are all at the west exit, and the receptionist can look for them according to the advertisement on the bus. Amazing experience ! I enjoy the room and onsen so much . The room is so big, tidy and cozy, with two private hot baths, one indoor and one outdoor. The onsen resort offers 5 private baths on top of public bath, giving very good privacy and allowing me to enjoy quality time with my fam.
The staff were so friendly and the people were nice!! However, it is difficult to communicate in anything other than Japanese, so if you are not a local, you may not be satisfied. The accommodation is old and worn out, and the hot spring is small and the water is not good compared to other ryokans.
This hot spring hotel has been the highlight of my entire trip. The rooms and buildings are designed with a strong infusion of Japanese culture, immersing guests in an authentic ambience. Every corner of the hotel exudes warmth and significance, urging you to savor its beauty.
The open-air hot springs are truly unforgettable, allowing you to relax while surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery....

I stayed here for three nights. This traditional Okinawan house was available for rent. I think it was a 4DK (4 bedroom, 4 dining room, 4 kitchen). There was a TV on the kitchen floor, where I spent most of my time. I used one of the Japanese-style rooms as my bedroom, and took naps in another Japanese-style room next to the kitchen, which got plenty of sunlight. It was very relaxing....
My work in Okinawa finished early, leaving me with about two days free.
While visiting the Churaumi Aquarium and souvenir shops would be nice, I decided to head as far north as possible and rented a car to Kouri Island.
I'd also like to see the ocean on Kouri Island.
However, the hotels and inns on Kouri Island are a bit pricey for a single person, so I searched for a nearby place and found a reasonably...
It's spacious and has a good degree of freedom. You can experience life in Okinawa. There are shops nearby.

Really enjoyed our stay here! The location is super convenient, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was definitely a highlight—lots of options and everything tasted great. The room was a bit small, but it was clean and comfortable, so it didn’t bother me much.
Excellent! The showerhead, amenities, and hairdryer in the room have all been upgraded to Refa, which made for a great shower experience. The service was also top-notch, and the room was quite spacious.

Highly recommend this hotel! The rooms are beautiful, the location is great, the breakfast is delicious, and the service is excellent. Every detail is exquisite. I'll definitely choose to stay here again the next time I'm in Fukuoka.
I had a great experience staying at Tokyu Stay Fukuoka Tenjin! The location is excellent — just a short walk from the train station and right in the heart of Tenjin, making it super easy to explore the city. The subway connections are fantastic, so getting around Fukuoka and even farther destinations was a breeze.

I highly recommend this place! The room was very spacious, I could easily open two 24-inch suitcases. It came with a microwave, washing machine, and a small fridge. The hotel is within walking distance of Tenjin Underground Mall, Mitsukoshi, and Daimaru. The entire hotel is new and very clean. Room is spacious, street parking is available nearby, clean room. Nice environment
The room was super clean, well decorated and full equipped. The checkin process was easy. The hotel uses the machine for checking in and out. During my check in, there was a staff to facilitate me with it. The staff was really nice. They provided various amenity kits you can pick them up at the lobby to use in your room.
Favourite hotel chain in Japan. Minimalist, clean with good amenities

We had some trouble at the hotel and had to move to Seven by Seven at short notice. They quickly arranged it for us, and the result was... I'm so grateful. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to the staff for their courteous and warm service. Although we only had to leave our luggage there temporarily, they were still very kind and I was able to head to my next destination with peace of mind.
The rooms are very large, the equipment is relatively old, but are clean and tidy location, close to the airport but not close to the city center, only suitable for self-drive, almost no one stays and very few employees
During the stay along with I should only have 2-3 rooms occupied, but the day asked if the hotel could check in an hour early was also refused.
Overall Not recommended, service average
The location of the hotel was too ambiguous.
The hotel was too far from the beach and the places to visit nearby, so it was difficult to enjoy the ocean.
However, the breakfast was really a hotel worth recommending.
Good service attitude. The facilities are a bit old, but clean and tidy.
The hotel felt like it needed renovation. Maybe it's been a while. Not a big deal. However, it was nice for the price and the staff were incredibly nice!
I stayed for 2 nights for the first time. Since it was a corner room, it was quiet and spacious, and I was impressed by the sea view from the terrace. When I entered the room after check-in, it felt a bit damp, as other people wrote, but the air conditioning worked well and I was able to spend time comfortably. It was a waste that the hair dryer was normal for some reason, even though the amenities...
