Hotel GHT Xaloc in Platja d'Aro

This is in theory a ‘simple old-school Spanish hotel’. It’s basically all about its terrace, which is lovely - possibly the best location and best view in Platje D’Aro, shaded by pines and overlooking a lovely rocky cove at the quiet end of the town. Beyond that the hotel is, well, simple and unfussy…going on basic…going on a bit mean. The rooms are small but clean, tiled floors, standard cheap furniture, decent bathrooms - that’s all OK; but the beds are single, hard and narrow, as are the pillows. Tiny soaps in the bathroom disappear in one use and are not replaced. The shampoo dispensers are OUTSIDE the shower - you have to keep stepping out of the water to reach them… The breakfast is basic to the point of unappetising. It feels like there’s a lot of choice but no actual real food. There’s a tiny, basic, ok pool - but no pool towels. Etc etc. With a bit of generosity and imagination, if someone here really thought and cared about their customers’ experience, the setting would make it a gem. For example, the clientele are coming on a budget - they can’t bring beach umbrellas and towels on budget airlines, so why not stock a few - rent them out daily if you like. Then get a second coffee machine, so you don’t have a long exasperated queue every morning as people try to get a drink. And if the receptionist is doubling as the Barman, fine - but how about a bell on the bar counter so help can be called? This hotel lacks all such touches. But the view, yes.

Fantastc location, right on the lovely beaxh. Room overlookinng the sea. Restaiurnt as well. Very nice staff.
