Hotel Costa Brava in Platja d'Aro

The hotel photos do not match reality. The room is very bad, with very old furniture. The pictures showed a renovated room, but this is not what we got.

The Hotel is really good overall, the location just perfect and if you get a recently renovated room it's perfect. We had the most perfect view from the room, overlooking the beach and everything worth exploring is within walkable distance.

The Hotel Staff tried to charge us for the damage in the room, done by a previous occupant.
Since, we travelled with our cat, we wrote to the Hotel if the Cat is allowed inside the room or not and if there are any special conditions.

The Hotel confirmed, that at an extra charge we can bring the cat.
Two days into the stay, the front desk hands us an invoice of some 250 Euros for the damage, till date, which they claimed were scratch marks on the bed. And if by the end of the stay there was more damage, we will have to pay some 450 Euros.

Now, they showed us some old photos taken of the bed and claimed since we had a cat, they were sure the damage was ours.
Funny thing though is, our cat neither had nails nor does he scratch things like that and we told them that if such a charge existed, why were we not informed before. After an hour's shouting with the Manage of the hotel who is REALLY Rude, we threatened them to go to the Police.

If such a policy existed, they should have informed us in the beginning, in a written communication or an email and we refused to pay anything.

In the end, they did not charge us anything but the damage was done and our whole holiday was spoilt by the very rude behaviour, extreme shouting and the fact that since that day they didn't even provide us with Room Service.

Although the Hotel is good, there is a reason it is still a 3 star and that is the attitude in general of the Manager, the Front desk and even the bar which is more like a Senior Citizen Club.
