Prior to going I emailed the hotel to ask for a pool view room which they gave. So I appreciate that. But overall the hotel is a mess! We stayed bed and breakfast and there is no facilities in the rooms to store or prepare food so we had to eat out every night which got very repetitive and boring! We asked them for a few plates so we could make a sandwich in the room after buying bread ect and was refused and told no food in the room, although we are self catering! It made no sense!
I had to pay €32 euro to rent a little tiny fridge that didn't even work for the room to keep drinks cold so that was really annoying! There was also a strong smell of sewer in the room coming from the bathroom, reported this on day one no one bothered to come and check!
The beds are hard and uncomfortable, my eldest son 17, had this small tiny bed that was so filthy! There was mould or damp on the celling above where his bed was!
My youngest son 12 has autism and fell on day 1 round the pool, I had to pull him out as he banged his head on the side of the pool and was crying. I instantly took him to reception to ask for an ice pack and was told take him to the bar and get ice. There was just no compassion at all!
The breakfast was rotten, I mean okay it was edible but it was horrible, same every day with no change! We missed a few days because we was sick of it.
In the lobby it looked like a care home, everyday it was over run with old people. Which is fine but I think the hotel caters more for older people not families.
There are 2 out door pools, we only went round 1, it's very very deep, maybe 8:9ft. So no good for small children or non swimmers as there's no life guards. Also no day time entertainment round the pool either.
We have been to lloret de mar 3 times and twice we loved it, we stayed at hotel encantada it is a beautiful hotel and family friendly, we was half bored ther and still had all the self catering facilities in your room included in the price. It's a beautiful hotel.
We will not be returning to lloret again htop royal star has put me off for good!!
It's lucky I gave 1 star I'd have gave none if I could!
The food was very stand out for me - there was a good variety and I got to eat some more expensive meats such as tuna steak, duck and so on. The deserts were lovely and very nutmeg-heavy, which I personally love. Where the food struggled was the temperature. Often I took food back to my table to sit down and find it cold or very lukewarm which really detracted from what was otherwise an enjoyable dining experience. Breakfast was the same each day and could do with a bit of variety. Lunch and dinner were both good and very varied.
The room had everything I needed and was clean and comfortable. I was at the rear of the hotel and from my balcony had a lovely view of the nearby hills - this was very pretty at night when the houses lit up the hill. The balcony was spacious but could do with a table. Where the room fell short was the soundproofing. You can hear quite literally everything from other rooms, the outside corridor and through the balcony doors from outside/other people's balconies. Luckily, I have sound cancelling headphones thus this was not a huge issue for me until my final night when they stopped working and I struggled to sleep due to hearing people shouting in corridors and from the balcony, and the sound of the elevator, people moving chairs in other rooms and so on. This could be significantly improved by placing draught excluders around the door as there is no seal around the door which lets in a lot of noise. For this reason, I would not recommend this hotel for families or those with small children, or anyone that is a light sleeper.
The pools were great and the indoor pool and Jacuzzi were a highlight of the holiday. You book at reception for a 45 minute slot. When me and my friend visited the indoor pool, there were only two others in there which was great as we had full use of everything. Sadly, the sauna was closed when we visited which was a shame. There are 2 outdoor pools - a larger busier one by the bar and another quieter one at the opposite side of the function room. We stuck with the quieter pool as most of the time, we were the only ones using it which was great.
The staff on both the reception and bar were friendly and attentive. There is a menu on the bar which advises which drinks are in the all inclusive. With regards to cocktails, they taste lovely, however you are at the whim of whoever makes them as the recipe for cocktails varies wildly depending on who makes it and when. The cups the drinks are provided in are small and thus if you're having drinks through the evening, you will be getting up to go to the bar a lot, however this is to be expected in an all inclusive.
The location is good. About a 15 minute walk to the centre of Lloret, down a main road.
We booked our stay at htop Royal Star & Spa through TUI, expecting a relaxing and comfortable vacation. What we got was the complete opposite. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
The hotel was chaotic, filled with drunk teenagers running around the halls at night, screaming, banging on doors, and making it impossible to sleep. We had to call Securitas almost every night—sometimes several times a night—just to get some peace. It felt more like a party hostel than a four-star hotel.
The food was awful. Tasteless, low quality, and clearly reused—dinner often seemed like leftovers from lunch thrown together. I even saw bugs crawling on the bread, which was absolutely disgusting.
The room cleaning was poor, and the whole place lacked proper hygiene. We paid for all-inclusive, but many things weren’t included after all, which was misleading. Having stayed at several all-inclusive resorts before, this one was by far the worst.
Despite being listed as a four-star hotel, I would barely give it two. TUI should not promote this place as a quality option. It is absolutely not worth the money, and I cannot recommend it to anyone.
Avoid htop Royal Star & Spa – it was a complete disappointment from start to finish.
