Green Escape Unawatuna in Unawatuna

We had a great experience from start to finish staying at Green Escape. The room was immaculately presented and comfortable. The food was great and the restaurant staff very friendly and accommodating, the pool and setting beautiful, and the receptionist Sadew was always there with a smile, on hand to help us in any way he could. The staff were also happy to let us use all the hotel facilities for the entire day after check out for not extra charge. Nothing was too much trouble. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - it was the perfect way to end our 3 week holiday in Sri Lanka.

Easy 5 stars, great staff and the option of Sri Lankan breakfast that we went for was sublime. Seen loads of amazing wildlife there including monkeys, iguanas and loads of cool birds!

Room was decent and the pool was nice. Real chill vibes.

A beautiful location in tropical gardens surrounded by nature. The bedrooms were great with very comfortable beds, good WIFI and showers. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The dinner was fantastic and we made friends with two members of staff, Dilan and Madu who made our stay extra special. We hired a car and there is lots of parking. Only 5 minutes drive to turtle beach in Unawatuna.

We had a great stay here for four nights and all the staff were so helpful and friendly. Sadew, Oshadhi, Sanudi on reception were welcoming and helpful.
Dilan, Risindu, and Kavindu and all the restaurant team were great and made us delicious food.
There are lots of other staff who all make this a great place to stay. Thanks so much.

It's nice to be in the lush greenery away from the main road and it's easy to get to different beaches from here. The pool area is lovely, with nice seating

We had a very pleasant stay at this well-maintained, green property—peaceful and away from city noise, yet easily accessible. Waking up to chirping birds and spotting a monitor lizard added to the charm. The pool is beautiful, and the food impressed us with both taste and portion size.
We stayed in a Triple Deluxe Room with a nice balcony and a mezzanine bunk bed; the washroom was also well-sized. While the room was aesthetic, it felt slightly smaller than a typical resort room. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We stayed for four days, first on the first floor, then three more on the third. The third floor includes a balcony, so it's more expensive.
What I didn't like about the first floor was the constant presence of people walking around and the only decent window, which also doubles as the door, was impossible to open. It was always curtained, making it feel like a bunker!
There are fewer mosquitoes on the first floor than on the third.

We didn't include breakfast because we'd seen photos of the $5 options and decided to go to a cafe ourselves. There are plenty of them on that street in Unawatuna, but finding a tasty and filling breakfast is a real challenge; we only managed to get one on the fourth day.

The room was clean, the air conditioning was good, and there was no musty smell. As is the case everywhere in Asia, the plumbing was rusty. But that wasn't the main drawback.
What I disliked most was the hosts' attitude toward their guests. We were the only ones, and they took us without even asking if we needed anything, and then drove far into the island. The guy cleaning and looking after the place doesn't really understand English, and we needed to extend our stay. They spent two days chasing them.
The hosts don't say hello and are unfriendly.
Regarding the moroseness: travelers, keep in mind that Sri Lankan people stopped being friendly and hospitable long ago. It's common for them to rip off tourists (and that's not just talk), rip them off, pester them with offers of their services, and even a tuk-tuk will make you shudder after just two days.
The island is beautiful and nice, a truly wonderful place! But the people. They're awful!

We spent one night, so the first hotel we booked was not working. We arrived, and the hotel was closed, in short, we had to look for a new one. And we chose Green villa, we were checked in at 21:00, the room had air conditioning, a large bed and a spacious bathroom. We were satisfied! The territory of the villa is also cozy.

The hotel itself is excellent, the rooms are spacious, our view of the rock was simply gorgeous in real life, a huge balcony, beach towels were provided upon request. The location is gorgeous, two steps from the beach street and 5 minutes from the beach. Breakfasts are delicious. We were there for two days. We wanted to stay but there were no available rooms. We saw a medium-sized monitor lizard, chipmunks.
