VIlla Thawthisa in Unawatuna

👎 My recent stay at Hotel Villa Thawtisa in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka was incredibly disappointing. Not only did I encounter bugs in the room, but the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. The breakfast options were extremely limited, and to top it off, we were unexpectedly charged for water at breakfast, which felt like a blatant money grab.

What's worse is the way the staff handled our complaints about the bugs. Instead of addressing the issue promptly and professionally, they seemed annoyed and dismissive.

The hotel itself is in dire need of maintenance. The pool was dirty, and the linens in our room were far from clean. It's unacceptable that we had to repeatedly ask for cleaning during our stay.

Overall, our experience was far from enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend Hotel Villa Thawtisa to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean stay in Unawatuna. #HotelReview #Unawatuna #SriLanka 🏨👎

DON’T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

Booked accomodation 6 weeks in advance. Got an email on the day of check in stating that they had over booked and they could no longer accomodate us. Turned up at the hotel and insisted they sort out the issue. They then tried to say it was a maintenance issue with the room. Story changed. No other accomodation available to us at such short notice. Finally agreed to accomodate us in what must have been staff quarters for slightly discounted rate after having paid for best room with internal pool. Lost power for hours. Sweating and eaten by mozzies. Finally placed in a better room. Average accomodation. Lights don’t work. Doors don’t lock. Dinner was a fixed menu. Food must have been prepared hours earlier. Tough and dry. Decided not to eat there again although meals were included in our rate. Ate and drank in town. So much better

Don't trust this hotel! 2 days before check-in they just have sent me an e-mail that they are fully booked and can't host us. Sothey cancelled our booking. We booked and paid several weeks in advance. And only 2 days before the check-in they decided to cancel. It's a pre-Christmas period now, so it' s not easy for us to find that soon a relevant substitute. No care, no professionalism, lack of management. Don't trust!
