Hotel Sonne Zermatt in Zermatt

This was our first time staying at the Hotel Sonne. We will certainly return.

The staff is incredibly friendly. The rooms are very spacious. My wife and I really enjoyed the pool area, and the outdoor hot tub is wonderful. The outdoor tub is nestled in among a waterfall and a cliff. It is a beautiful setting.

The restaurant is outstanding. We especially loved the Tapas menu. The breakfast buffet is extensive. They have a breakfast rice dish, that was superior.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Zermatt is an amazing location so only the hotels and restaurants differentiate it.
Hotel Sonne is spotlessly clean (very important to me), welcoming, with plenty of individual space, a lovely spa area, a great masseuse but the food is its usp - breakfasts to suit the fussiest family and the Tapas Restaurant is amazing. This separates it apart from other hotels.

This was my second time staying at Sonne Hotel and there are no words to describe this place. In my arrival I felt the same thing as last time, the welcoming environment, the cosiness of its facilities, the helpful and cheerful staff, and it goes without saying the incredible comfort of my room. When I first stepped into Sonne Hotel, and this amazing feeling came back, I knew I was right to come back to this marvellous place.

Once again I was impressed with the swimming pool area, sauna and the hot open air bathtub. It’s just amazingly beautiful to relax a bit after a skiing day on a hot bathtub with an astonishing view to the mountains covered in snow. It makes me realize how lucky I am sometimes! Just the perfect combination after a beautiful sunny skiing day.

Also every meal was impeccable, with a creative and well executed menu every single day I was excited to know what was waiting for me. Not only the buffet had a great variety of entrances and hot dishes, but also there was always a spectacular selection of main courses.

My room was just heaven, with a view to the mountains and all the comfort it was as Swiss as it can get. I was very impressed with the Wi-Fi connection in it, as well as in the whole Hotel.

One of the things that impressed me the most was one night as I was having dinner one of the members of the Forster family who was also having dinner started to talk with one couple sitting next to them, after a little while there was about 4 or 5 separate tables talking and laughing with each other, suddenly the dining room had the most warmth and welcoming atmosphere I will never forget.

A family Hotel, beautifully located in one of the most charming Zermatt corners. A place that makes it very difficult to leave. I strongly recommend it and I’m already looking forward to coming back next season.

Great hotel! Spent there several days on a conference. Staff is nice. Hotel is clean and comfortable. A bit to the edge of town.

My friends and I were originally booked in another hotel but we were rebooked to Hotel Sonne instead due to overbooking. We can't complain though! Hotel Sonne offered more than what we expected. All the staff were very attentive and patient with us. Buffet breakfast was superb. Their dinner menu was sumptuous and were served very efficiently. Their fondue house also didn't disappoint. Bonus points for the bar that's open 'till 11PM. Would definitely recommend to friends and family, and might return again someday!

We really like this place. Second time we have visited and always friendly (now familiar) faces welcome us. It’s a quintessential family-run business in terms of hospitality. They continue to invest in the property, so it is very nice and up-to-date. Great new bar area and the restaurants food was nice.

Super clean, very high Swiss class and comfortable hotel in the center of Zetmatt. Great hospitality. Quite big SPA, several pools, several saunas, fitness equipment of high quality. We enjoyed breakfast very much. We spent some days here and it was not crowded (beg. of Oct 20). We stayed in Junior Suite which is well equipped, big enough and you will feel premium quality in all details.

Staff is very attentive. Richard was exceptional. I think they all speak at least 3 languages. Rooms were neat and tidy. We even had a little snack waiting for us upon arrival. Would definitely make this a stopping point.
