Reviews
We did try the BBQ one night which was very nice except the cut and cooking of the steak is well below par- I believe a porterhouse for a BBQ would be a minimum cut to not look “Cheap”, the fish for the BBQ was superb and well made up for the steak.
Cocktail hour was great and a real treat.
Easy communication with front of house staff for travel etc.
The girls who attended our massage did an amazing job.
The gardeners are doing a great job and the grounds look wonderful. .
It shows the place I imagine is being refurbished slowly but remains a very stylish resort, our pavilion pool room was out of this world and was a real luxury for us.
We thank all staff we came across for making our holiday a memorable luxury stay.
Thanks so much for an amazing holiday 🙏
We were really looking forward to a relaxing stay at The Lamai, but ongoing construction next to the pool made that impossible. Before booking a couple of weeks ago, we noticed reviews mentioning construction and contacted the hotel in advance to ask about potential noise. We were reassured that it would not affect our stay. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.
On our first morning, we went to the pool for a swim and found that all the sunbeds were already claimed, even though no guests were using them. While the hotel has a sign about reserving beds, it was not enforced. In addition, the noise from the nearby construction was constant and disruptive, which made it difficult to relax — not what you expect when planning a quiet beach holiday.
We spoke with the front desk, and the staff were genuinely kind, helpful, and understanding. They tried to find a solution, but the options offered were not suitable for us, so we decided to check out.
The Lamai is a beautiful hotel with very hospitable staff. However, guests should be clearly informed about the ongoing construction and the significant noise levels so they can make an informed decision before booking.
Positives:
• Full 5-star amenities including gym, pool, spa, restaurant, bar, and laundry
• Warm, tranquil rooms with comfortable beds
• Very friendly staff
• Excellent location
Negatives:
Ongoing construction next to the hotel disrupted the calm atmosphere by the pool. We were not informed in advance and received no compensation despite raising the issue.
Restaurant and bar service was at times slow and inattentive. At one point during dinner we had to leave our table to ask for service rather than it being offered to us. The food is satisfactory.
Some room interiors feel worn, particularly blinds and curtains. The same goes for pool towels that were outworn, stained, and in some cases had holes.
Breakfast selection felt underwhelming and limited for a 5-star hotel, although the gluten-free bread was excellent.
Verdict:
A beautiful hotel with great staff and location, but several details fall short of 5-star standards.
The resort of Small houses are build front the sea and the same time having view of palm and bambook forest front our veranda. No any guest vill having this view. We have also the privesy on our veranda, because not had people on oposit haus.
Rooms can be clean every sungul day if you do not stop them and put the coconat monkey asking for silence.
Watter of 4 big bottle, nesscafee sashe or thea are replased every single day.
The houses are separet of yeach others. That avoiding hotel noise from next room.
When you stay in your veranda the Peace it is increduble, just hear the song from local birds.Real paradice if you will stay just in your place.
Place as whole is very clean.
Staff try their best, they are so friendly as in general tay people.
Breakfast is absolutly source of fresh jouses, frouts and local food too.
Regarding coffe mashine - they are not in service for guesst - they are operated from staff. If you like your coffee hote this vill be down side because staff rushing just to serve the coffee. When you order hot coffee - for the staff hot coffee is hote coffee because coming from coffe mashine.
Comunicatiin is quit difficult because better english are in front desc reception and the rest they are doing their job per duty and training.
The eating aeria is located front pool and sea - the vuew all day is so peacful by looking this infinity of blue where see and sky are with no end.
Beautiful place and nature but we do not had the privilage of PEACE .
Every morning during the breackfast builders working and noise from driling and hamering are fulling our head.
Because our room not having front pool, that is our choice in order to have praivecy - we try to use shezlong front the pool. But the noise from building aeria which is front you not giving you change to enjoy your holiday and relax.
We have to talk with manager ,he try to give some credit in order to compesate this inconvinience.
But end of the day we was put in situation.
In such case must be anounce - we have building work on main pool and eating aeria. Then is up of the quest to choose noisy relax. Because that is the context of Holiday - peace and relax.it is long traveling to reach this relax combined with constructing work. End of the day the place is not low amount we choose to stay from 7- 15 Decemver and every singul day hammering was part of the holiday. We try to ask manager at least during breakfast buildrrdt to stop the noisy work- you are just woke up and the noise is not good option just in one hands distance. So for thus reason not was optional to use shezlong front the pool and enjoy the holoday moment front the see.
Any way the shezlong are just 10 near pool.
Without noise l summing the place is PARADISE in the nature
Location In the town - you should know you going in the resort out of hotel in the town no many to see. Is very anoing to walking to the shop and hear taxy driver attract your attentiin with the clacson, or massage worker shauting from distance to be more visible by traing to earn money. Walking on the streat you can see very poor ""bisiness" traing their best in order to bring some money at home.
Seling gaselin in bottle, having kind of restaurant with some kind of kitchen, or motorbike renting, secobd hands clothes or laundry servicess or massages.....and canabice
Breakfast was excellent every morning, and the Thai iced teas with almond milk became part of our daily ritual. The food was delicious, with the floating breakfast and spa as real highlights. The clear, star filled night sky was truly magical.
There were some noise issues during our stay due to on site construction, and the rooms are unfortunately not very soundproof. However, the way this was handled made a huge difference. The manager was extremely approachable and kind, and generously offered us credit for part of our stay. As a result, almost all our meals, the floating breakfast, and spa experiences were covered, which we truly appreciated.
The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and a special mention goes to Fonny at the front desk, who was absolutely brilliant and made us feel so well looked after throughout our stay.
Despite the noise, the beauty of the rooms, the private pool, the peaceful beach, and the exceptional service more than made up for it. We are definitely returning and would happily recommend The Lamai to others 🧡🙏🇹🇭☀️
