Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel in Beijing

Let me start by saying: I've stayed in quite a few hotels, and I was genuinely disappointed with this Renaissance, especially the facilities.

1. I'm not sure if all the room curtains are like this – they don't block out light and are too short, as shown in the picture. It's like they're reminding us: 'No slacking off, you workhorses! 🥲🥲'

2. The toilet flush requires you to hold the button down constantly, otherwise it won't flush properly. Should I blame myself for having too much... output?

3. I returned to my room after 10 PM and found that only the toilet and the countertop where the electric kettle sits had working outlets. I called the hotel to inform them, and their solution was either to send someone for repairs or to switch rooms. I was already undressed, my luggage was unpacked, and it was past 10 PM – was I supposed to wait around for maintenance? These basic checks should have been done beforehand.

Another thing I need to complain about: after we checked out, the hotel called to ask about our stay. My wife (I booked under her name) mentioned the issues, and they offered a complimentary room upgrade or breakfast vouchers for our next visit. It felt like an afterthought; everything should be proactive! There won't be a next time.

Of course, the hotel's location is undeniably excellent and very convenient. Ziguangyuan, Heyan Roubing, Fangzhuanchang, Zhaogeguo, the Art Museum, Wangfujing Street, Jingshan... everything around is perfectly fine.
