Hotel Filoxenia in Chania Town

If I could put even more stars I defiantly would.
I booked an other Airbnb in Chania with my girlfriend, after we arrived the owner still hadn’t send us any information on how to get in and wasn’t answering any phone calls or messages. It was about 1-2am and we had nowhere to go.
Thankfully we found this hotel. Christos, the receptionist there was super helpful and found us a room immediately in a very good price without taking advantage of the fact that we didn’t have anywhere else to go.
He also arranged us to check out later than 11am the next morning. He was amazing and the rooms were in a VERY good location IN the Center. Good rooms and great staff for a great price.

This was a great stay and a great value. While it’s an older hotel, it is very well cared for and the staff could not be more welcoming. It’s very clean and comfortable and the location is the best to see all of Chania. It’s also not difficult to find parking nearby.

This place is the absolute bomb. The rooms themselves are by no means extravagant, if fact they are a tad dingy. (Very clean just old). HOWEVER, that is completely made up by the fact that the staff is incredible. The manager welcomed us when we showed up unannounced just after midnight (our car rental was screwed up and we were stranded in Chania). Room was absolutely acceptable for the price, AC worked well, big balcony, and extremely close to the water, swimming, and downtown area. The manager even gave us a custom notated map of some highlights of the area which was extremely helpful. In the morning while I was trying to figure out our car situation, the staff was overwhelmingly helpful and after I gave my thanks, one of the staff replied with, “Humans should help humans.” They ended up calling one of their local partners and we were able to rent a car for our vacation through them. They were all one big family and it felt very much like they were inviting you into their home. Plus they have a bar and poured us some Raki while we waited.

Booked this hotel due to a delayed flight until the next day and wanted a double and a twin comfortable room for an unexpected overnight stay. Price was very good but was more interested in being close to Chania front which is was. The owners were very welcoming when we arrived and the rooms were comfortable. After going out to dinner we returned and the owners offered us Raki which we had to turn down as we had already had a lot of Raki at the restaurant. Enjoyable extra nights stay in Chania at BA's expense. Only negative about it is that the balconies are small and right on the street but that is what you would expect in this area

We found this hotel by chance and couldn’t have been happier. We felt welcome the minute we walked in. Outstanding hospitality. The owner offered great tips for local restaurants and for what to explore in the region. The hotel was clean and quiet, and a great location. Highly recommend for a home base to explore Chania.

It is a small hotel that provides a convenient place to stay in Chania.

Perfect family hotel. The location is great - the old town is on 1 min. The beach is on 2 minutes. There is a huge free parking on 50 metres. The hosts are incredible. We checked in earlier and they give us a welcome drink which includes raki (domestic drink), marinate fish with cherry tomato, olives, bread and water. Strongly recommended

The best reception ever, we checked in at the reception (2 hours before check-in time) then we were offered delicious tapas with "raki" the local liquor. The people were so hospitable! A great room close to a swimming beach and around the corner from the center. Highly recommended!

After a wonderful stay in Rethymno, we moved to Chania; the Filoxenia hotel is in a fantastic location, just outside the chaos of the Venetian port and the old town but reachable in a few minutes, but still has many bars and restaurants in the street in front so you don't have to move to have dinner if you don't feel like it. The hotel is quite new, nice, the room comfortable, nothing special, but what I want to underline and which is the real must have of the place is the superb kindness and helpfulness of the owner, a lovely and very kind person ready to solve everything. Every evening he helped us with parking the car, sometimes he let us leave it in front of a driveway in front and then agreed with the owners to move the car in case a parking space became free; one evening my 3 year old daughter started crying because she wanted a banana (since every time we passed by he made her find one), but he poor guy didn't have one..... she was hard done by because we had been to Elafonissi, a big day, it was definitely a tantrum so much so that I told him not to worry. Well, he went out on his scooter at 9pm to go and look for bananas for her! Here we are beyond kindness...... a truly special person who I want to thank enormously. Breakfast was agreed with a hotel opposite and so we go and have it there, there are those classic international buffets with every possible and imaginable desire....... there is a large parking lot right in front, but in my case it was practically impossible to find a place and even get in so much was the queue, without him I really wouldn't have known what to do! THANK YOU for everything, you are incredible people.
