Vlachakis Beach Hotel in Malia

The staff of this hotel were very polite people, as were all Malia shopkeepers. They are really welcoming. But unfortunately I can't say the same for the hotel. The food and drinks sold in the hotel were even more expensive than the luxury venues. Also me and my partner had planned this vacation to relax but unfortunately I couldn't rest at this hotel at all. Because the soundproofing system of the rooms was very bad and the other guests were talking very loudly and fighting at 3 or 4 in the night. This happened almost every night. Instead of silencing these people, the hotel's security guard was constantly smoking and busy with his phone. No one was warning these people. Another issue is that we arrived at the hotel around 10 o'clock at night on the first day, but they asked us to leave early on the day we were to check out. No understanding was shown in this matter. Since the plane was late, we wanted to spend some time at the hotel, but unfortunately I took a shower with cold water outside and changed my clothes in the toilet. I don't want to prolong the topic too much, but there are really nice hotels on this island, definitely choose another hotel if you can.

Disappointing Experience in Malia,Crete!!!

I rarely write negative reviews, but unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the lack of cleanliness was obvious. The bed sheets and towels were stained, the toilet seat was broken, and the curtains looked like they hadn’t been changed in decades. The room doors were damaged, which gave the whole place a neglected and uncomfortable feeling.
Basic amenities were also missing: there was no soap, no shower gel, and no hairdryer in the room. The fridge was ancient,it released extra heat into the room. To make matters worse, air conditioning was not included in the price – we had to pay extra – and the unit was oddly placed on the balcony, which made it unbearably hot outside.
Another disappointment was the sleeping arrangement. We had requested a double bed, but instead, we were given two single beds pushed together.
The pool area was just as unpleasant. The sunbeds were dirty and clearly not maintained. Breakfast was by far the lowest point of the stay: two dry slices of bread, margarine instead of butter, one slice of ham, and one slice of cheese. On top of that, water and coffee were not even included in the price of breakfast – something I have never experienced before at a hotel.
Overall, this hotel does not meet even the most basic standards of comfort and cleanliness. It felt outdated, neglected, and not worth the money at all.

“I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The rooms were very old, and under the bed we found dirt left by previous guests (cigarette butts, toothbrushes, tissues). It was obvious that proper cleaning had not been done for a long time. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine, the shower was old and dirty, and overall the facilities were far from what was shown in the booking pictures.

Breakfast was a complete joke – just one slice of ham and one slice of cheese, with no coffee or water included. Honestly, you can get a better meal in a hospital. Even though we had paid for breakfast, we ended up asking for just a coffee instead, as it was pointless.

On top of that, air conditioning was not included and cost €10 per day. After arriving, we checked other reviews and discovered that some guests had reported money missing from their rooms. Because of this, we asked the staff not to enter our room unless we were present, and we kept our valuables with us at all times.

This hotel is absolutely not what it advertises, and I would never recommend it to anyone. We left feeling deeply disappointed and deceived.”

If you want to ruin your vacation, this hotel is the perfect choice!
I stayed from August 22–29, 2025, and it was an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone:
• “Cleanliness” only in name: the room and bathroom were full of filth.
• All-inclusive breakfast? 🤔 Two slices of toast, some ham, cheese, a small piece of cake, butter, and jam – the champions’ menu! 😂 + an extra hair for free.
• Staff – full of confidence, zero solutions. If you mention a problem with the rooms, they look at you like it’s your fault.
• Air conditioning? Sure, but €10/day. Probably their luxury air…
• Location? Very “picturesque”: dirty and ugly, perfect for ruining your holiday.

👉 Conclusion: terrible food, dirty rooms, arrogant staff, money thrown out the window. I DO NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!

Terrible Experience – Would Not Recommend

I stayed at this hotel recently and was very disappointed. The room was dirty, with electrical outlets that looked like they hadn’t been updated in 50 years. The walls were extremely thin – I could hear every sound from the neighboring rooms, making it very hard to rest.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable, with an old spring mattress that made sleeping almost impossible. After arriving, I read the Google reviews and found multiple complaints about theft from rooms, so I had to carry all my money with me at all times – definitely not a relaxing experience.

Breakfast was awful, as you can also see in the photos. Overall, this was a 2-star room at best. Air conditioning wasn’t included and cost an extra €10 per day, which felt like a rip-off considering the already poor conditions.

I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. A terrible stay from start to finish.
