Exceptional staff service, with multiple guests praising the helpful and friendly reception and breakfast teams. Excellent central location with immediate access to public transport and close walking distance to city attractions. Clean, modern rooms with some featuring balconies offering city views and opportunities to see the Northern Lights. Breakfast is consistently described as good or enjoyable, with a variety of options including traditional Icelandic dishes. On-site parking is available but limited, which is appreciated by guests traveling with rental cars. A few guests reported a pest problem in the rooms, describing bug bites and inadequate hygiene management. Some rooms are small and can feel cramped, especially for more than two occupants or with luggage. Balcony doors open onto shared corridors, limiting the ability to leave them open for ventilation. Limited parking spots with a first-come, first-served policy can make it difficult to secure a space. One guest noted occasional noise from the street, especially on weekend nights.

The staff at this hotel are AMAZING.

We enjoyed 4 nights here, great location, spa and food, the staff are amazing.

We missed our flight home due to me miss reading the times, the staff went above and beyond in helping us stay another night with them, booking the fly bus to the airport and reassuring us they would do all they could to help us, which help settle our anxiety and stress.

We would definitely stay here again if we ever return.

10/10 *

Good location, healthy breakfast and the male receptionist was very helpful

This stay was, to put it mildly, a bug-infested lesson.

I stayed for 4 nights. The first two nights were fine, but on the third night, things went south – I started getting bitten by bugs in the room, resulting in red spots all over my body. This wasn't just me being sensitive; these were clearly visible bites that required photographic evidence (which I did take, of both the spots and the bugs).

What's even more outrageous is that this wasn't an isolated incident. I later found out that previous guests had reported similar issues, indicating that the hotel has a long-standing problem with hygiene and pest control, rather than a one-off accident.

After the incident, the hotel's solution was to arrange a room change. The problem is, what had to happen already happened. The room change felt more like going through the motions than actually solving the issue.

Due to hygiene concerns, I personally disposed of some of my clothes and shoes, essentially paying extra for this stay.

To summarize:

* The room has a pest problem.
* Hygiene management is questionable (and seemingly a long-term issue).
* The response was delayed and inadequate.
* The guest had to bear the additional costs themselves.

If you're just looking for a place to sleep, you might gamble on it; but if you don't want to use your body as a test subject, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel.

We had a pleasant stay overall. The check-in staff were extremely friendly, warm, and helpful, making a great first impression. The hotel is centrally located, which made getting around very convenient. Parking is available at the back of the hotel on a first-come, first-served basis, and we were fortunate to secure a spot. Breakfast offered a good selection and was enjoyable. The main drawback was the balcony door, which opens onto a shared corridor, so we weren’t able to leave it open for ventilation. Aside from that, a comfortable and welcoming stay.

Overall, it's still pretty good. The location is better than Station 12, but Station 12 is definitely more convenient since most pickups and drop-offs happen there.

The room was clean, the bathroom was spacious, and the bedding was comfortable. Definitely book a room with a balcony so you can see the snow-capped mountains. The hotel's location is superb (city center), right next to a supermarket, and you can walk to famous city attractions in 10 minutes.

The hotel is nice, especially the bar which you can watch football.

Just back from a 4 night stay, what a great central hotel, ok I won’t go on about the great bus stop outside as it’s in most reviews. The main thing for me was the warm welcome from the breakfast team at the hotel each and every day as it set me up for the day, also to the reception team member who changed out room as I was a little upset it wasn’t the room I’d seen in the photo. She kindly shown me room 211 instead and granted us a room swap, I kept apologising for making a fuss but she was magnificent. The whole place has a laid back casual feel to it, it’s simple but stylish with a boutique feel inside! Learnt how to translate numbers with each step I took up to our room. Very quirky Loved it. Thank you so much. We will be back. My niece has already booked on my recommendation! See you again soon.

My dear friend and I stayed at Center Hotels Laugavegur from February 4–9, and our experience was exceptional from beginning to end.

After an overnight flight from Baltimore, arriving early in the morning, we were so grateful to be welcomed into a clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained hotel right in the heart of Reykjavík. The property itself is modern and spotless, but what truly stood out was the staff. Every single person we encountered — from the breakfast team to the front desk — went above and beyond to ensure we felt cared for.

The included breakfast was wonderful each morning, with attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere. The front desk staff were consistently helpful with recommendations, directions, and answering every question we had with warmth and professionalism.

And the highlight? We were able to witness the Northern Lights from our balcony. It was absolutely magical — a moment we will never forget.

Thank you for helping make our Iceland adventure so memorable. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Reykjavík

I had 2 pizzas in this town. First one was in "No name pizza" place, and that one was outstanding. In this pizzeria it was just normal, good pizza. So it is safe to visit. But... It is just normal...

Delicious wood fired pizza (you can see the pizza oven in the kitchen). Medium pizza was plenty for 1 person and reasonably priced compared to internationally well known pizza chains. Free fizzy drink refills. Staff are friendly and helpful. Only in Reykjavik for 4 nights, but having tried a few other restaurants here, we've decided to return to Eldsmidjan for our final night evening meal.

Best pizza we've had! Staff friendly, fast service and great tasting pizza, highly reccomend. Well worth it and get more than your moneys worth

This pizza spot is right on the main shopping street in downtown Reykjavik. Nice beer selection and laid back atmosphere. My only negative comment here is the sauce. Very basic with very little flavor. Crust was excellent.
21.06.2017 Richard
Summary based on one dinner:
-very good pizza, easily comparable to just about any expectation
-service upstairs friendly, but can be a bit slow when busy, which is understandable. We didn't have to wait for seating.
-medium sized is good for dinner, perhaps small. We mistakenly got a large & a medium after ordering two mediums and had enough for another dinner the next night. Take away box provided and we weren't charged extra for the large.
-typical prices for this area
-credit cards accepted
-didn't ask about wifi
-parking wasn't an issue since we walked

Excellent lobster soup, tasty porterhouse steak cooked to perfection. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Ambient could benefit from some improvements.

Food was good, service was good, prices were as expected. Food prices in Iceland are very high compared to other countries, especially for beef. This premium steakhouse is no exception.

The service was pretty good compared to other restaurants I visited in Iceland.

Nothing about my experience was bad, but this isn't a *MUST GO* restaurant for tourists in Iceland.

Great pizza. ?

Told there was a 30 minute wait for food, we were there for an hour and a half because they 'gave our pizza to someone else'. They didnt have a record of our order when it came to getting a refund. Total waste of time. If you're dead set on pizza go somewhere else.
27.10.2017 David
They somehow lost my pizza, probably gave it away accidentally. Over 1 hour waiting. Also quite expensive. Avoid.

Amazing pizza. The crust is thinned to the perfect size. The menu is completely in Icelandic, so it was hard to figure out, but very good either way

Very quiet and nice place. The pizza was really good
