Staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, with mentions of excellent concierge service and assistance with bookings. The hotel's location near the old harbour provides easy access to local attractions and a quiet environment despite proximity to a working port. The restaurant offers a wide buffet breakfast and a highly praised cocktail menu with a skilled mixologist. Unique hotel features include a small cinema-like room, library, barber shop, and various cozy common areas with a fireplace. Rooms with harbour views and balconies are highlighted as particularly charming and comfortable. The hotel does not have dedicated parking; guests must find street parking nearby, which can be inconvenient for luggage handling. Rooms are generally small and bathrooms have privacy issues due to frosted doors with gaps and showers that flood the floor. Some guests noted noise from the street for rooms facing the road and occasional indifferent front desk service. Lack of a gym and unclear signage between two hotel restaurants caused minor guest dissatisfaction. Finding the main entrance can be confusing as it is located at the back, not the front or corner of the building.

The Mariner Hotel is an exceptional establishment. The staff are friendly and helpful, providing recommendations and assisting with bookings for trips and excursions.
Originally Iceland’s only paint factory, the hotel has been meticulously transformed into a modern and practical accommodation.
The buffet style breakfast offers a wide selection of food to suit all tastes. The restaurant is consistently clean and well-stocked even during peak periods.
The on site restaurant is also highly regarded, particularly for its exceptional cocktail menu and the skill of its mixologist.
We experienced no issues during our stay and were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived until our departure.
Guests can opt to forgo room cleaning and be given a 1000ISK voucher per day which can be used to discount food and drinks in the restaurant.

The front desk staff were very helpful and advised us where to park our car. The hotel doesn't have its own parking space. We had to park at any space available at the narrow lane in front of the hotel.
Room is clean and well renovated. It is spacious too.

If you want to be in the old harbor area this is the spot. Great staff, very much my kind of place and interesting non chain vibe. Lots of Construction close by and across from us a ship was being repaired so the Old Harbor still has some authenticity but most of it. It’s been turned over to tourist attractions. Was there in Winter but I suspect. in the summer, the place would be very busy.

After being whisked away to Iceland for a 'special' birthday the 4 nights we had here were great.
The hotel is ideally situated, just out of the main hustle and bustle, easily reached by a 5-10 minute walk, even being so close to a working port it was really quiet (the engineers working on the ship on the slipway didn't start work until after 8!)
Breakfast was varied and plentiful!
All the staff were very helpful and friendly - would definitely recommend.

The hotel is right by the old wharf, making it super convenient to get everywhere. Plus, there's a Piggy Mart nearby, which is great for grabbing food. On top of that, it's just a 3-minute walk to the shuttle bus station for all the major tour companies.

Hotel location was quite accessible. Close to many restaurants cafés and shops. Was easy to get to from the airport via the shuttle from airport and transfer bus. Hotel lobby was quite nice and had lots of space for working. However, was quite disappointed by the the lack of gym when asked on site which was misleading from photos (albeit taken 7 years ago on Google Maps). Room was of standard size. Sastified with the cleanliness of the hotel. Hotel attendants very helpful and responsive and even helped coordinate taxi service.

I have stayed at the Marina Reykjavik several times over the years- it is my favorite hotel in Reykjavik! It is nestled away from the bustle by the harbor, and a short walk to the Harpa. You overlook these huge ships being cleaned and repainted, and I have seen the northern lights right from my window. To start, my favorite part of Marina is the staff. There have been several people that have been there for years, welcoming you warmly every time you arrive. Ivett is wonderful, and always willing to help with anything you might need. The decor is unique and engaging with a mixture of old style Iceland with modern accents everywhere. There’s a fireplace going in the front and games to play to the side. There are books, a barber shop, a small movie theater and common rooms to just relax and unwind in. There is a lovely bar and restaurant, and a morning buffet. The rooms are so charming- based on the colors and wildlife of Iceland, and its marine history. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well laid out. My favorite room is the family room with the bunk beds- a real treat! Great hotel, lovely staff.

Well situated, nicely designed hotel.
They paid a lot of attention to detail.

Rooms are nicely decorated and all areas look beautiful, although the bedrooms themselves are quite small.
The hotel has different rooms on the ground floor for relaxing, working, and meetings. I assume it’s also possible to rent these rooms.

There is also a small cinema-like room where you can play something from a streaming platform on a big screen.

The service was a mix.
Most people were nice, but there was also an uninterested receptionist.

Extremely satisfied with this hotel! It's very close to both the city center and whale watching tours. Our stay was fantastic, and the room details were perfect. The breakfast was quite good, and the hotel offers free parking.
