Where to stay in Reykjavik

Enough space for a family. Two bedrooms, kitchen and a balcony. Sofa can be converted into an additional two bed. It is just near cafe Loki and Hallgrimskirkja church which is visible from anywhere in the downtown, so need to worry about getting lost. What more can you ask for, in the middle of everything. Rainbowstreet, sunvoyager, Harpa center and mostly all the bus stops where the local tours starts...

I enjoyed my stay at Loki 101 for the most part. The self service check in was simple and convenient for my needs. The room was clean and comfortable, and (mostly) quiet. The hosts and cleaning staff are super friendly and this was the PERFECT base to explore the city. It has the best location and a very well equipped kitchen. The shared bathroom is very small and only has 1 shower but there was rarely a line. We weren't able to enjoy the back porch due to the weather but our room was quite comfortable enough to look out on the streets.

Loki 101 Guesthouse was the perfect place for my stay in Reykjavik. Its location in the city is fantastic, the room was clean and comfy, and if I had any questions the staff was extremely quick to answer. I will certainly be staying here again on my next visit!

It was very well set up with a full and large kitchen / dining room for guests to prepare their own food. It was more like a hostel than a hotel. One shared bathroom per floor worked fairly well. Shame there was not a separate toilet tho. Room was neat snd well decorated bed and bedding was amazingly comfortable . Narrow stairs up to bedrooms and down to kitchen were challenging for a 70 plus body...

Centrally located, easy to walk to the centre of town. Despite this, it is remarkably quiet. Clean. Room was very clean and bright. This hostel is located in an older building - the rooms were great, the kitchen and bathrooms need some updating. The bathrooms were a little musty and toilets were coming to the end of their life. Kitchen microwave is old and slow.

Oveall good place for our family of 4 with good beds and ammenities. Sound proofing wasnt great as street noise was quite loud. When i tried to use the stovetop the power went out due to a vlown breaker, forcing me to use the shared kitchen vs the private one in our suite (after i found the breaker box and reset it), so that was inconvenient.

This is a gorgeous little guesthouse in easy walking distance to all the major attractions and sites in Reykjavik. The house is quiet, with a sleek bathroom, neat bedrooms, underfloor heating, and a spacious kitchen/living area. There is a step from the road down to the front door and two biggish steps from the door down to the floor itself but they are not hard to manage (even with a buggy).

We came in late therefore it was easy to receive code for door and easy check in instructions. Very comfortable beds! Thank you!!

We were there end of September. Very nice location, very good price. The rooms look good, ambient is very homey and the owner Elza was really nice to us. We also got some useful information about Reykjavik from Roko, who works there. They also have a really sweet dog named Medo. We will definitely come again!

I am 50 and was traveling solo looking for hostel type accommodations and stumbled upon this gem. For me the price was right and accommodations perfect. Housekeeper and owner were very friendly and I got to play with their dog in the backyard. Highly recommend if looking for a nice friendly place to stay very close to all the action’

We stayed here on our final night in Iceland. It was a great location close to the church and walking to just about everything, even BSI bus station if you are going to or from airport. Rooms were very tidy, we had private bathroom too.

We stayed in The Tower and it's AMAZING. You get a great 180 degree view of the city. You are conveniently located in the middle of so much. You can easily walk anywhere and come back home between anything. It's clean, quiet, and comfortable. I'd stay again and again and again.

This place is decent. You get a private room with a shared kitchen and bath. This isn't a fancy place, but it is certainly clean and well maintained. Booked this place for one night before going for the big circle. Had to wait for about 30 minutes to get in. Luckily there was another guy waiting that had local cell phone so he dialed place owner. Otherwise we would probably wait forever. The place itself is fairly old, but the rooms were ok for the overnight.

It is more like a shared house made into a guest house. Looks and feels kinda old inside, room wasn't cosy. You can't take shower between 11 pm and 7 am. You have to take your shoes off as you enter. It's value for money but don't expect hotel comfort.

This place was great. I was a little worried because I thought it was someone's actual house but I was able to come and go as I pleased at all hours without fear of bothering anyone. It had the privacy of a hotel but the feeling of being home. I'm planning my next trip and I'm for sure staying here again!

its big. the nights we were there the kitchen area turned into a lot of fun. A bunch of people trying to cook in, and have a few drinks to save money turned into a big group out on the town.

Great location! Room was comfortable enough. Shared female restroom need some throughout cleaning as the mildew is all over the showers. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Though a bit out of town, it is close to the bus terminal for airbus. Taking a bue to city centre is also easy and convenient. Student canteen and bar provide good food at lower price. Good value for money.

Beds were comfy, kitchen and hallways were very nice. Our room was assigned wrong originally but they were very helpful and upgraded us to a private bathroom. The shower flooded the bathroom with no mat and we only had 1 towel each, so we weren't able to dry the floor, but other than that we would definitely stay again.

Good stay! Room was a great location for touring the downtown cheaply. Included free parking just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend if in the area. Only issue we had was the shower drain didn't work well.

Situated in a quiet neighborhood, this guesthouse has ample parking and a very nice cafe with a full lunch and dinner menu, bar and fresh made bakery items as well. Hi Eco Hostel has a great atmosphere for all ages, we found it a lovely place to meet people and enjoyed the cafe bar and kitchen areas. Our superior double room was very comfortable on our first stay, but the double room was less comfortable and it was really noisy on Friday night, so we wouldnt choose it again on a weekend. But on other nights, it is an ideal place to meet people.

Wow! I really loved this location and the community was great! I have stayed at multiple hostels in my travels so I am familiar with shared spaces. Beautiful and friendly hostel. Rooms are cleaned daily. Very friendly staff. The owner is lovely and has a beautiful dog. The bar area is a plus, full of sofas, chairs, and all kinds of games. The location is excellent, with easy access to food options and shops. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm, and the room was very spacious with its own private bathroom and a hairdryer provided. However, the storage space is insufficient, and there is no bedside reading light for each bed, which would have improved comfort. The idea of the pods is amazing, they give you almost the privacy of a private bedroom (except noise-wise), but at the price of a dorm bed. Staff was kind. Price was great. I appreciate they sell some snacks, so you don't have to go out if you are just a bit hungry and have no food. Ok location. The reception has nice couches and a great view.

We tried it because the pods looked fun and a bit more private than a typical hostel. There were more than enough toilets for the amount of guests, and they seemed to be very clean. The pods did not seem to lock at all but would still recommend for the experience.

Great location, quirky concept, but has gone downhill a bit since I last visited 4 years ago. Not just as fresh and more of a hostel feel than it used to have. Maybe just because it was peak season, but the pods don't lock anymore, the TVs weren't working properly, they don't offer headphones so I could never use the TV as I had wireless headphones. It was fine, but not as amazing as I remembered.

We stayed here overnight and enjoyed our time here. It was very clean and quiet, even in the day. The walls are cool with everyone’s signatures. Very clean place far away from the city centre. The beds have no curtains but they are provided with a little lamp and a plug. Several toilets available and a short front desk opening times. I had left my luggage in the morning and the reception was locked since 4pm so I needed to dial from a foreign nr so I could collect my luggage. This hotel is excellent! Even though it has shared bathrooms, they are very convenient and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, allowing us to make breakfast and simple stir-fries for lunch. We plan to stay here again after returning our rental car.

Everything about this hostel is amazing. I have done memories of the stay, and I wanna go back. The place is spotless, quiet and super comfy. This hostel ranks among the worst I've experienced in Europe. The 4th floor is supposed to have hairdryers. On my first day, I asked the front desk and they said one should be there but it had 'disappeared'. They had spares, but never restocked them, so I had to go down and borrow one every time. Once, they even lent me two broken ones in a row. In the restrooms, I'd find one out of three stalls...

A very... unique experience, my first time staying in a youth hostel. There were 2 guys and 2 girls, each from a different country. I wouldn't recommend bringing large suitcases, as there's not much space to open them in the room and the aisles are quite narrow. It's a good idea to bring disposable bedding (sheets, duvet cover, pillowcase) and a lock for the locker.

It was better than we expected, friendly staff, clean amenities, spacious room, kitchen was provided as well, knowing everything is so expensive in Iceland, we can’t avoid to prepare our own food while getting ingredients from supermarket nearby. There are 6 rooms, there is one bathroom and one toilet. Additionally there is a shower down at the sauna. However, there were like 10 people and it was not easy to go to the bathroom. The bathroom only allowed short showers because the sink was pretty much stuck. With fewer people it would be acceptable.

Great, very hospitable place with all kinds of different guests make it feel like staying with a large, diverse international family. Also Bedda, the owner, is very help- and cheerful turning even the bleakest of Reykjavik's days into pure sunshine. Located in downtown Reykjavik, this little hostel still offers you a quiet environment for your stay. The owners are nice and friendly and also very caring about you. They offer you a bed in a small, clean building, which definitely is the best value for money you can get. I very much recommend you staying a few nights there!

Hostel is very small. And rooms are very bright and muggy in the evening. It was one of the cheaper options so I guess you get what you pay for, but there are no common areas so people tend to hang out and be loud in the sleeping area. Also no hreakfast. Wouldn't stay again, and I am a budget traveler.

Fabulous location, affordable cost considering every other place in Reykjavik. The managers who work there are so accommodating and very friendly. Very clean facilities, and has a kitchen and fridge that every guest is free to use. Highly recommend staying here, especially for anyone on a budget.

This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed. The owners work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome and give some excellent travel advice for exploring Iceland. Because of this wonderfully welcoming atmosphere making friends and getting to know people. I'd recommended this hostel to anyone. It is spotlessly clean, accessible, and in a great location.
