Loved the private onsen. The ladies were so helpful and attentive in the hotel. We never ate dinner there as it’s a French restaurant and we wanted Japanese food. The breakfast was brought up to the room and consisted of fresh baked croissants and butter and jam and coffee. NOT a full breakfast.

The room is not small for Japan, it is clean and the view outside the window is beautiful. The service is friendly and there is a semi-open-air private hot spring. Although there is no scenery, it is still very comfortable to take a bath after skiing. The restaurant and bar are both very nice. I met the owner and had a pleasant half-day, half-English chat with him. The owner also treated me to many drinks. The only downside is that there is no elevator, which makes it a little troublesome to move luggage. If you want to eat at the restaurant, remember to make a reservation one day in advance.

The historic facility has been modified to the minimum necessary to provide a comfortable space that is suitable for modern times, and the service and consideration were overwhelming. From the moment I entered the hotel grounds, I was able to spend a dream-like time in a different dimension. It was truly an auberge.
