The hotel reception area is too small, and there's no elevator. The rooms are okay, quite spacious. The location is also good.

No hot water, no shower gel, wifi is slower than pre soviet era. Breakfast is blend flirting on mediocre and unhealthy.
No second key, you have to wake up your spouse coming back from your morning run.
You can ask all you want. We did, several times. Nothing will happen. Stayed 3 nights. 0 improvement. Asked to take a shower in another room. No. Is the hotel full? No.
To top it all off. Most of the staff especially the reception, does not speak English. How convenient for a tourist business. Bless google translate.

The hotels in the photo are mixed up. It's Resident Hotel Almaty, not Resident Hotel Gogol. The latter is much better, please note!

Not suitable for guests with kids and for elders. - Located right on the busy road so will be noisy from one side and children will be screaming from the other. - Been a terrible smell when I moved in but administrators removed it with a special tool while I was away. - The limited breakfast is served at the cafe next door.

Hvae been there in early October. Room was clean but dark as it was facing north. Breakfast was nice with three options, two local and one continental. The place is close to a shopping mall and a nice outdoor gear shop so it is convenient if you are going on a hike.
One of reception staff was not professional. I asked her about laundromat nearby and she said there is no such place in Almaty and laugh on me in local language with some other person. No idea what they talked about but I was in the middle of conversation, and she obviously did not want to help. I still do not know how people handle laundry in Almaty.

This hotel has a variety of rooms to choose from , which are all big and clean. Washroom is clean and pleasant . Bed is quite comfortable with warm lights on the side. They provide all the toiletries and clean the room daily and replace the toiletries. What I loved the most is the fragrance in the corridor . They serve a healthy and tasty nutritious breakfast. Moreover you can eat or enjoy in the cafe on ground floor. You can eat fast food , bakery , etc.
