Hotel Marbel in Can Pastilla

The service was acceptable. The room was small but reasonably clean. The bed didn't have a comforter, so I had to ask for one at the front desk. The bathroom was cramped and difficult to turn around in. The breakfast was good, with English dishes. I had to take a taxi to the airport in the middle of the night. The drive was less than four kilometers, and the fare was 16.80 euros. The hotel is 10 kilometers from the old town center, but I found it very convenient to get into the city the next day. There's a bus stop at the exit, with buses running every five or six minutes. Take bus No. 35 for 2.50 euros and arrive near the cathedral in half an hour. Remember to get off at this stop on your way back. After checking out, take the A2 bus from the same station for 5 euros, which takes you a few stops to the airport. The hotel is close to the sea, so you can enjoy the beachfront both early and late. However, the cultural scene is poor, and the buildings are run-down. There are several supermarkets on the side streets, and food is cheap. The hotel doesn't have a kettle; if you need hot water, you can get it at the bar downstairs.

Was really worried after reading the reviews of this place but it wasn't too bad at all. Dated furniture and shabby looking outside but clean enough with clean towels every day. Be warned that if there are any belongings on your bed, the cleaners wont change/make your bed. The upstairs pool is a little suntrap. If you fancy a pool day, there's a Spar literally next door when we bought snacks and drinks and tool up to the pool. We were BnB and didn't bother with breakfasts but there are some lovely restaurants around. El Goucho is an Argentinean steakhouse which was out of this world. Would definitely recommend. Excellent location, 14 euro-ish from the airport only and short walk to the beach and bars. Nothing too flash but not to bad for a few days. Would probably go back.
