Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa in Lamai Beach

My husband absolutely loves this hotel! The beach access is super convenient, and the welcoming drink was a nice touch. All the staff are really friendly and the breakfast is fantastic – you can even order off-menu items. The only minor drawback is that they don't automatically provide toothbrushes.

I think it's great value for money, and the room was very clean and dry! The breakfast was also good; this was the cheapest place on our trip but just as nice! Highly recommend.

They offer free yoga classes in the morning.
The beach is a bit rocky, making it difficult to swim.
I recommend the dinner restaurant, the view is absolutely stunning!

I came to Thailand for a friend's wedding and took the opportunity to do some short-term traveling. The hotel was very comfortable, with an infinity pool that seamlessly blended with the sea, which was truly breathtaking. I recommend the sea-view rooms; sitting by the window, enjoying the sea breeze, and looking out at the ocean was incredibly relaxing. Breakfast was also very good.

The 0.5 point deduction is for the breakfast restaurant staff. Although there were a lot of people at breakfast, their seating arrangement wasn't great, and they didn't allow guests to dine in bathrobes (which I understand, as I had just come from the pool). However, I'm not sure if it was a language barrier, but their attitude was not very good.

I also tried the hotel's spa. The environment was excellent and very private; I heard it was even an award-winning spa. However, to be honest, I don't think the technique was the best, and compared to its price, the value for money wasn't very high.

We booked the All Inclusive package at Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa through Trip.com, but unfortunately the experience did not match what “all inclusive” usually means.

At check-in we were told that our “all inclusive” included only two dishes per person for lunch and dinner, plus breakfast the next day. This was very surprising, because we paid significantly more specifically for the full package. The administrator also informed us that desserts were included and that our son could order ice cream anytime. However, at lunch the waiter said desserts were not included, and only after calling the manager were we allowed to take one dessert for free “as an exception”.

The sauna was also not included, even though we expected it to be part of an all-inclusive stay.

For dinner, the all-inclusive menu in the seaside restaurant was extremely limited compared to the regular menu, so we could not find anything suitable and had to go to the main restaurant instead.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent, but later at the beach bar we were unexpectedly told that drinks were no longer included, which had not been explained in advance.

What made the experience even more disappointing is that we previously stayed at another Marriott property — Le Meridien Khao Lak — where the All Inclusive package was absolutely outstanding. It included multiple à la carte restaurants, a full buffet with unlimited dishes, drinks, and desserts, and overall was far superior — while actually costing slightly less than what we paid at Renaissance Koh Samui.

Overall, although we paid several times more for the All Inclusive package at Renaissance Koh Samui, what we received was only two dishes per meal, a very limited menu, almost no included desserts or drinks, and inconsistent information from the staff. Unfortunately, it was far from the Marriott-level all-inclusive experience we expected and not worth the extra cost.

A bit old-fashioned decoration hotel (for my room type) and the gym is rather small. But the big plus points for this hotel are their staff and service, soooo nice and impressive. Warm welcome and felt like the staff were really happy to greet and serve us during the stay. Breakfast is really yummy too.

Hotel is nice, a little old. Swimming pools are great, breakfast as well.
The beach is beautiful but swimming there is not possible as it’s very shallow.
Service was not consistent, sometimes great, sometimes less. We felt they focused more on some clients than others. Service at breakfast has always been great though !
Nothing much to do around so you need to rent a scooter or a car to go a bit further.

5 star service!! 🌟 The Staff are very attentive to every detail. We were a group of 6 and they always had table for when dining. The chefs were amazing!!! They really take there time and pride in delivering great food from the breakfast to dinner. The team go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels special. We definitely visit again.

Good hotel, less good location. The hotel is very large so you have to walk a lot from place to place.

Everything and anything was perfect at the hotel. 
Lovely staff, great facilities, very baby friendly and family supportive. The beach is really private and no trespassing of unknown people happening. Staff is ready to assist with any questions and provide any help. For example we asked about nanny and they were keen to help to find it outside of hotel. It is absolutely great. Service, and atmosphere is beyond and your stay is literally crafted for your needs in a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
