Stayed here for 2 weeks in July. Lovely spacious rooms, great air con, fab shower, room cleaned every day to a high standard. Great pool area on the smaller side, but enough sunbeds, we would get a couple of beds when we came down for breakfast around 10 am. Pool great could even swim as most people just popped in for a cool off and then got out. Stayed half board, food was great we really enjoyed. Bars, restaurants and the beach a few mins walk away. Old town Rethymnon appox 20 mins walk. The drop off is a bit strange as you get dropped off at the hotel next door. It was a bit confusing as there was no one to greet us and tell us where to go. Had a great time, lovely hotel and profesional and friendly staff.

This hotel is rated 5 star but compared to many hotels we have stayed at, this is a 4 star at the most. 5 star price for a 4 star hotel which is frustrating when there other, better options nearby. Clever advertising and photos! Not the best of welcomes as, although booked and paid for a week stay, we were not on their list of arrivals! Rooms near to the main road are very noisy....there is traffic noise for most of the night. We asked to move towards the back of the hotel. Rooms are fine but supplies of tea and coffee are stingey. The reception area is quite barren and unwelcoming. There is a sort of games room near the entrance which looks a mess and hardly 5 star. However, the staff are generally very pleasant and helpful.

Once arriving at the hotel we were taken To the Minos Hotel which is classed as 4 star with families. Once registering with reception we were taken over to the Ambassador adults only classed as a 5 star. Local taxes were extremely high at 105 euros. In my opinion this is not a 5 star hotel. I have stayed in many over the years. The room we were allocated although very nice looked onto derelict corrugated building. The pool and dining area are on the roof top. There were plenty of sunbeds although the head cushions were ripped at the ties which attach to the bed and some very stained. You had to be careful accessing the pool by the metal steps. They felt unsteady and slippery on the hand rail when getting out. The food was average although plenty of choice. The staff at times looked like they did not want to be there but did their job The spa was well kept and managed offering a 15 minute free massage. My husband opted for a foot massage but she only massaged his legs. I had a foot and back massage, paid for which was wonderful.Would I go again to this hotel - no, not 5 star

Inconsistent, some great touches and some room for improvement. Arriving at 03:30 to be told of the stealth tax of €15ppn wasn’t the best surprise. In fact, it turned out to be €15 per room per night. This is based upon the star rating of the accommodation and time of year. After being charged €210 for what should have been €105 and something we were not aware of was not great. Let me say, this is not near to a European 5*. Some excellent areas, in particular the food and dining room service. Kostas was excellent. On the half board basis, you do not get access to a drop of water and must pay for every drink you want, even still water. The rooms are nice and spacious, good and modern decor and bed was lovely. Air con was good and the safe was free, all expected in a 5*!!! Cleaned daily to a good standard and towels replaced as required. Two medium bottles of water were provided each day. Pool and bed area was nice and has nice views of the bay. Not many beds for the size of the hotel but, always some space. Bring your own towels as those provided often smelled of onions and only covered half the bed, with the other half becoming very hot. Areas for improvement would be not to provide a measly cheese baguette on arrival at 03:30 which then knocks out a pre-departure meal on the final evening for our 01:40 flight. To fix the drainage issues that persisted for our whole trip even after reporting to reception. The stench of sewage was not nice and made the room stink every time the drainage system was used. Beauty treatments were very expensive, found much cheaper in the local bustling old town. Get out and about, it’s a lovely place to explore. Will we be back?Possibly but, not back here to this hotel, too many shortcomings.

Really lovely hotel. Very clean. Super friendly staff. Large rooms and balconies. Comfy beds. Lovely rooftop pool area with good sun loungers. Lots of breakfast options. We had a good massage in the spa.
Good location with plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets nearby. It's quite a long walk from the harbour, although we enjoyed the walk along the seafront.
Only downsides: Lunch menu was quite limited. Coffee machine in room but we were only given 2 pods for 8 days (apparently you have to pay for more).

I booked then read the reviews and nearly tried to change the hotel. This hotel is amazing and if you are wanting quiet come here. Ignore the entrance via the other hotel cone straight to its own entrance and lobby. Why it’s not shown on pictures ! Hotel full but so quiet, pool never full always plenty of beds and so quiet ! We swam alone so many times even at weekends The food (go half board) is just outstanding for both breakfast and evening meals Yes the outlook from the balconies is not that forever sunset and endless sea views - we were lucky we had the deluxe junior suite at the front and that overlooked the side street and another hotel - not the best but to be honest we spent only possibly 2 hours on the balcony as the roof top bar and pool area was amazing. It’s so nice not to have noise - even the adults here are quiet Last half hour of breakfast 10-10:30 and I sat in the open air bar and I could only hear the lap of waves at the nearly beach Were we lucky and no one used the pool or were noisy - well we had 8 days like this in August !

Very bad first impression when dropped off outside an old tatty lift and didn’t have a clue where to go. You’ll have to walk over glass sided bridge to get to the Ambassador hotel which looks smart and clean and the bedroom was great , large with all the amenities we needed and a lovely comfortable bed. Then it all goes downhill from here on! Balcony overlooking a wood yard with rusty corrugated fence panels, totally unacceptable, complained to staff and it was dismissed and shrugged off, breakfast bland and tasteless with little choices and dry pastries , fresh fruit was lovely , yogurts and many other foods were not labelled to know what they were or what the ingredients were , all very important for anyone with food intolerances. Dinner only three choices of main meal and overcooked and little of it , sweets the same every night and all bland. We ended up going out for dinner each night so that we could have the food and holiday atmosphere we expected in a 5* hotel. This seemed to be the case for a lot of the guests too because the restaurant was so empty every evening. This hotel needs a good shake up and staff need to be trained up to a 5* standard, there was a lot of bickering and cross words between them , not happy in their job and getting orders wrong is unacceptable with so little guests to serve. They ask for smart dress code in the evening yet some were eating with sports wear vests and baseball caps on.
We went to the beach most days and into Rethymnon because at the start of the holiday certain guests would be up at the crack of dawn to secure their sun beds. Staff need to be firm and monitor this, it’s unfair for others who have the right to use them too.
We’ve stayed in many 5* hotels small and larger all over Greece and other countries and have been amazing, but this was definitely not anywhere near a 5* experience. A bit confusing too when they say they have two restaurants! They don’t , you are only allowed to eat in one, the other is the bar area with sofas and coffee tables. Asked spa about a pedicure and they don’t do those either but advertise that they do.
The reason we booked this hotel was because of a high percentage of excellent reviews. In future I won’t be taking those seriously . Something has gone wrong somewhere and it needs to be sorted.

The hotel is very nice and modern, the rooms are clean and large, the pool has nice views, but that's where the pluses end. This hotel is absurd. The hotel has 5 stars, but it doesn't even deserve 3. Let's start with the food, because it's the biggest minus of this hotel. There is very little choice for breakfast and everything is really very modest, cold, burnt or overcooked, little fruit, and when you go down for breakfast at 9 o'clock there will be nothing warm. Dinner is even worse. There are 3 dishes to choose from. I ordered duck which looked nice, but it was inedible. It was like rubber, you couldn't cut it. The dinner portions are a real joke, like for a baby. The hotel service is also not satisfactory. The service is only nice to you if you order a whole bottle of wine at dinner, and spend all your money in the hotel on drinks and beverages. The sauna and massage are also a scandal. The massage costs 80 euros for 80 minutes of massage, and the sauna is also charged 30 euros for 30 minutes. I have never encountered a sauna that was paid for. However, the food is the biggest minus. If you don't want to be hungry, you have to go to the city and buy food, because you won't survive on the hotel food. This hotel does not deserve 5 stars and I am very disappointed and disappointed for the price of this hotel. Absurd, I do not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Stayed here for a whole week with my family and had a wonderful time.
We had breakfast and dinner for the whole week, and breakfast was nice with buffe and service at the table as well.
Dinner was something to remember! :)
