Ilios Beach Hotel Apartments Adults Only in Rethymno

We are currently at Ilios, going home Friday. We are so pleased to have selected this apartment hotel. It's adults only which is a bonus. Our apartment 321 overlooks the pool. It doesn't get much sun which suits us fine (it may be different in the summer). There's plenty of storage and a well equipped kitchenette. Housekeeping is done every morning by the friendly cleaners. All the staff have been cheerful and welcoming. The location is great. Rethymno has miles long walks in either direction by the sea. We've clocked up so many steps/miles this week. There's a small garden area which leads to a street exit. There's a supermarket a short walk to the left. Good restaurants nearby. The hotel does extensive breakfasts but we chose to do our own thing. Cannot fault this place and would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay in Rethymno.

This hotel also manages the beach in front of it. This review is about the beach. The beach is clean, well-equipped with beds and umbrellas, with a shower and a changing cabin. You can order food and drinks on the beach and they will be served to you in a few minutes, it is very convenient. I shared a pizza Capriciosa and a large portion of delicious fries with my husband,

Absolutely loved our stay here. When we arrived, TUI airlines had lost my wife's case, and while TUI were worse than useless, the staff here were really kind and helpful. The staff are one of the best things about this hotel actually, they are just so friendly and genuine. The room we had was brilliant with a balcony looking out to see, it was all very clean and well maintained. We used the pool a lot and the food and bar service here was excellent. We also used the bar and food service when we were on the beach, and again you could not fault it. One week was not enough, this was easily the best seaside hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have travelled a lot. PS my wife's case turned up 😀 PPS the extremely enthusiastic lady at breakfast WILL make you smile!

We had a lovely week at the Ilios Beach Hotel Apartments. The staff were great though we didn't use the bar or restaurant facilities, everything looked good and well maintained. The Studio apartment was spacious and well equipped though it was strangely enough missing a toaster but we only used the kitchen for light snacks and made the most of the many restaurants/cafes nearby. The location was the real highlight, with use of the sunbeds on the beach directly opposite, the town and so many restaurants and shops nearby, you're spoiled for choice. I really want to go back one day!

We stayed at the Ilios end of June/July. The hotel is great, but the staff are exceptional. I was not very well whilst there and they were so helpful which was really appreciated. The hotel itself is small which is nice, we had a room overlooking the pool which was lovely. The private section on the beach is great, and the guy that works it is really lovely and helpful. I could not fault anything, and if we go back to Crete which I hope we do, we will definitely stay at the Ilios. :-)

What a fabulous hotel. Great size room. Comfortable beds. Small kitchenette. Lovely modern bathroom. Water temperature was a bit cool for hair washing if you had a shower after 19:30. We just planned around that. Lovely fresh pure white towels changed daily. The balcony we had was a perfect size. The hotel is directly opposite the beach with free sunbeds for hotel guests. Lovely varied menu at the bar that you could have delivered to your sunbed or to your room. We didn’t use the pool as it was very hot the week we stayed and we prefer a bit of sea breeze Every person that we had contact with in the hotel were amazing and very friendly. Couldn’t do enough for us If there was anything I could change I would have liked a toaster in the kitchen and a magnifying mirror in the bathroom (older lady with failing eye sight for make up purposes). That’s just personal choice though and in no way spoiled our stay. I would recommend to anyone and hope to return at some point.

Hotel is very well located by the beach. The sunbeds on the beach are included in the room rate. Also hotel serves drinks and food at the beach. The hotel itself is very clean and the stuff is friendly. You can have breakfast at the hotel or you can cook your own as rooms have good kitchen facilities. We had a room with a sea view. This means that the road is directly under the balcony. If you close the balcony door properly, it blocks the sounds from outside very well. The room has A/C. Hotel is a walking distance from Réthymno old town and Fortezza.

Fantastic staff, very welcoming and friendly. Great room, clean and good size. Amazing breakfast!! Vast range in the buffet…all fresh and delicious. Access to the beach and loungers, also a good sized and clean pool. No kids allowed meant our stay was peaceful and relaxing. Will come again!

Very nice, clean and quiet hotel with a great location. Just across the street is the sand beach with free sunbeds and umbrellas, and even food service from the hotel. Then in the back is the peaceful pool area with lots of plants and a giant bougainvillea. So you can choose your swim depending on the weather and your mood! The Old Town and Venetian harbour is within walking distance and there are many restaurants nearby. Thank you to the reviewer who mentioned Synka and the bakery, you just walk out the back, to the right and then left. It's a little uphill but close. I did not try the breakfast but tried some of the food, and I'm sorry to say it was only ok. Probably the dishes made in place are better than the prefab ones. To be fair, they do not claim to have a proper restaurant but only some simple dishes by the pool. I went for the superior sea view room as I would be spending some time in my room working, and the room was huge with a lot of nice details. I especially liked for instance the screen door to keep out insects, the walk-in closet, the many lighting options, the comfy bed and thick sturdy pillows. Unfortunately, in spite of the screen door you can't sleep by an open window because of the noise, but once closed it's relatively quiet. The kitchenette is great but doesn't have a fan and is clearly not meant for more advanced cooking. AC is quiet. The only negative about the room is the surprisingly uncomfortable furniture, beds aside. The cut out pattern chairs are just as painful as they look to sit on (use a folded blanket!), and the sofa feels flat and hard with hard ridges. I would not want to be using it as a sofa bed. Finally, what really makes this hotel a gem is the staff, who are all nice and friendly and make you feel welcome, from the receptionist (I really appreciated her taking the time to actually give all the information at check-in!) to the cleaners to the beach staff. It's does not feel like a soulless chain hotel but like a well-kept and personal family hotel that someone really cares about.

Ilios Beach Hotel Apartments is one of the freindliest and most chilled places we have visited. The staff couldn't do enough for us, and even arranged a wonderful suprise of champagne, as we were visiting as part of our 25th anniversary clebrations. Stella, in particular, is an amazing host, full of warmth and humour, but Anna and the other staff members were also great. All areas, inside and out, were spotless, and the beach waiter service across the road was very welcome addition. We truly felt spoiled.
