Description

Hotel Local 101 is a modest 3-star hotel in Reykjavik, originally constructed in 1965 and renovated in 2009. It offers a variety of room types including Economy Double, Standard Single with balcony, Standard Double, and Superior Double rooms. The hotel provides essential services such as a restaurant, bar, fitness centre, WiFi, and concierge service. Rooms are noted for being small, with some guests describing them as just enough to fit a queen-size bed and a desk, reflecting the building’s age and original design. Bathrooms are compact, sometimes described as 'camping level,' but generally clean and functional. The staff receive praise for being friendly and helpful, often going the extra mile for guests. While not luxurious, the hotel is considered good value for travelers who plan to spend most of their time exploring rather than staying indoors.

This is the second smallest hotel room I ever stayed in (#401) with just enough space for a queen size bed (which might be original from when the hotel was built in the sixties) and a desk to put the TV on and a chair. If you happened to bring a suitcase you´d need to improvise. The hotel is old and so are the furnitures in the room even though the bathroom is renovated at some point the last decade. The bathroom is just about 2 sqm / 20 sqf.

As other reviewers states the location is great. We also had a good experience with the staff. He did the best he could to handle the little breakfast buffet at the same time as he was checking out guests.

So, to conclude, if you expect this place to be a fancy hotel you´d be disappointed. If you expect a standard backpacker hostel you might find this a quite good place. Would I stay here again? Probably not. The price is about the same as other hotels in the area and I'd rather explore them before coming back here again.

This is a good boutique hotel with rooms that give a quality feel. Excellent shower and balcony that added to my stay after enjoying my adventures in Iceland, I knew I would come back to a warm and clean room. The Breakfast was a great way to start your day. The only tiny issue was a loud door closing in the corridor due to a heavy spring closure. Great staff.

Excellent hotel, great views, and attentive service.

I was looking for an affordable hotel in Iceland, where prices are high, and I ended up here. The room was so small that I had to sleep on the bed, but the bed and linens were comfortable enough to help me relax and recover from my fatigue.

2-night stay
The location is great and the downstairs bar is excellent. The breakfast is good but a bit hit and miss with some items. Coffee is excellent! The basic rooms are very small, so if with two suitcases gets cramped. Staff is lovely.

Good Spot
Clean room and property. The front desk was very helpful and patient with our many questions about the area.

The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the pier, and the staff are friendly. While there's no parking available, there are paid parking spaces opposite the hotel, and free parking is a 10-minute walk away, but ask the staff. Breakfast is simple, and the seating is limited, but perfect, with no waiting. Children can share a bed at no extra charge.

The man at the front desk was very nice and gave me a free room upgrade.

There's plenty of parking in P2 parking lot next to the hotel. There's also an elevator. The room wasn't large, but it could accommodate a large suitcase or a small one. There's also a bar downstairs with hot water, which was quite nice.

The room is too small and the bathroom light is broken. I personally think it is rather basic, but the breakfast is good.
