Reviews
Rooms are clean, nice breakfast start from 6.30am and with lift.
Fosshotel Lind just opposite this hotel. Staff not friendly and helpful at all, rooms are ok but small toilet.Their breakfast starts from 7am, and they only packed 4 sets of packed breakfast daily if you didn’t inform them before 12pm, there is nothing their staff can do for you.
So if you are considering this Fosshotel Raudara or Lind, definitely go for Fosshotel Raudara!
Therefore, the price of 21000 ISK (with breakfast) was not worth it.
The staff, however, were friendly and helpful.
Otherwise, the hotel is within walking distance of the city center and street parking is free (plus plenty of spaces).
Although it undoubtedly seems like a good hotel, I am extremely disappointed with the behavior of the staff at this establishment. I had to cancel my reservation because, one day before my arrival, I was informed that my flight had been canceled. The airline was no longer allowed to operate due to financial reasons. I was also unable to get a replacement ticket for the same period. Because of my son’s school vacation, I was tied to those specific dates.
There was absolutely no understanding for this situation, and the hotel refused to refund my money. They stated that cancellations were not allowed within two days of arrival. To me, this situation constitutes a clear case of force majeure. I find it very uncustomer-friendly and, frankly, disappointing on a human level to act this way and not even propose a possible compromise.
1. Location. The church is a 15-minute walk away, the airport bus stop in Reykjavik is a 30-minute walk away, and the airport bus and local group bus stop, Bus Stop 13 - Raðarárstigur, is a 3-minute walk away (not directly in front of the hotel!).
2. Hotel Service. The front desk is 24 hours a day. If you arrive at night, you need to ring the doorbell on the left side of the main entrance. You need to inform the front desk the night before if you want to have your room cleaned. The receptionist seemed distant, but she was actually very helpful and even offered to mail a postcard for me.
3. Food. I didn't order breakfast, but it was basically bread, scrambled eggs, and chickpeas. After ten days of eating there in Norway, I really didn't want to eat anymore... If you want Chinese food, turn right and walk a few steps. There's a Chinese restaurant called "Fan" (Rice). The service is average, but the food is fast and the food is delicious.
4. Room. The room was large and spacious. There was also a refrigerator for refrigerated souvenirs. The hot water, including the shower water, had a sulfur smell, which is normal in a volcanic country. Drinking water needs to be cooled for at least 30 seconds.
