Destination Resorts Phuket Beach - SHA Extra Plus in Karon

It’s our third time, but I am afraid the last. We booked 2 rooms in advance (2 m prior), arrived 2h earlier, had to wait u til 3pm-regular check in. By that time only 1 room was available. I guess it’s nice for families, spacious, walking distance to the public beach. Unfortunately, management isn’t anyhow pro active. Despite the fact that the big pool is promised to be “no kids”. It’s full of screaming kids and babies and there is no control at all. Chaise Lou he’s are 90% Python but people are just leaving g their towels and leaving for several hours. So, u can’t have a spot of relax. The pool is slimey, I understand that it’s too hot and everything g is growing too fast. Distance to the beach is short, but super dangerous: cars, bikers. Last 2 years there was a special guard who would help u get there, this year up to yourself. We only have breakfasts included. As prefer to go out. They no longer have coffee machines as of this year, so only whitty breeed coffee :( for a person whose breakfast is a sting coffee huge disappointment. Kind of messy and not hospital during the check in, no welcome drink etc is offered-shortage of personnel. Whereas reception area looks nice all corridors and walls I. Rooms are shabby, many dents, paint peeling of, mold:( on top of all u need to be ready for a messy and not clean public beach. The only++ are sun and water :)

Nice, fun and clean but with a disappointing service.
Pros:
The kids’ club is very nice, with fun and engaging activities. Our children really enjoyed it. The hotel is a bit old but generally clean. The pools are clean, and the room itself was clean as well. Breakfast food is good and tasty. However, the coffee is quite poor, and no one tells you that you can order a proper cappuccino from a coffee machine located in the back kitchen.
Dinner and room service menu is also very tasty.
I want to mention Alexander from reception for being very nice and helpful, and trying to improve our stay.

Cons:
We booked a one-bedroom suite for 2 adults, 2 kids, and a baby. Upon arrival, we had to wait 2–3 hours for the baby cot and extra bed sheets to be delivered. When we entered the room, there were dirty dishes with leftover food. It took more than a day for the staff to remove them, and in the meantime birds came in and ate the leftovers.

We also had several maintenance issues. The bathroom sink was clogged and only fixed after two days of repeated requests. The rain shower wasn’t working either and was repaired only a day after we reported it. We complained at the reception about the slow service, but unfortunately it didn’t improve.

I was surprised by this level of service, as none of the reviews we read mentioned similar issues. Perhaps we were just unlucky.

Another downside was breakfast: there were long lines to enter the dining room, and we waited about 10 minutes for a table, which we have never experienced before at a hotel like this.

+ The place, the country, the people…
- They dump sewage waters into the sea near the beach and water gets dirty and contaminated. We were shocked….
