Reviews
Our stay at Evelina Palace Hotel in Bansko was a complete disappointment. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the advertised shuttle service to the gondola. However, the bus was not operational, and the posted schedule was completely ignored. Instead, the hotel put up a poster instructing guests to inform reception when they wanted to leave, claiming they would “have a car ready.”
When I approached reception for this service, I was told they could only provide a driver if I used my own car. Seriously? When I requested a taxi, the receptionist bluntly told me there were no cabs available on Sundays after noon. This directly contradicted the information on the poster. When I pointed this out and asked how they planned to resolve the issue, I was told I should have gone earlier—before 10 AM—something they never mentioned on the poster.
Beyond this fiasco, the hotel itself is poorly managed. The furniture is old and falling apart, the rooms are dusty and clearly not well-maintained, and everything feels like it hasn’t been updated in decades.
If you’re looking for a pleasant stay in Bansko, avoid this place at all costs. Management is unhelpful, the facilities are outdated, and the service is downright terrible. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
To add insult to injury, the shower provided inconsistent temperatures, fluctuating between hot and cold without warning. Despite our requests, the staff refused to provide spare towels or a second key card, demonstrating a lack of consideration for guests' needs.
Furthermore, the hotel blatantly lied about its proximity to the ski slopes, claiming it was a short walk away when in reality it was a 20-minute trek. The only redeeming quality was the comfort of the beds, but even that could not outweigh the invasion of privacy experienced by my friend who woke up to find the receptionist rifling through belongings without explanation.
Overall, our stay at Evelina Palace was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would strongly advise against booking a room there in the future.
I cannot believe the audacity of this so-called "hotel." Our experience was an absolute nightmare from start to finish.
First off, the rooms were tiny, cramped, and looked like they hadn't been updated since the Stone Age. Everything was old, worn-out, and cheaply furnished. It was like stepping into a time warp back to the 1970s.
We specifically booked a room with a balcony, only to be given one without. When we complained, they begrudgingly moved us to a smaller room but with a "balcony" (no chairs or anything just a small terrace 1mx1m)
Then there's the heating situation. Or should I say, lack thereof. During the day, the heating was nonexistent, and in the middle of the freezing night, they decided to turn it off entirely. My girlfriend had to sleep with a jacket on, but at least she is getting some sleep. I just came back from downstairs where I found some lady that was willing to turn it on. She said that the management told her to turn off the heating "occasionally". What kind of nonsense is that? Mnogo li pari spestihte be hora? Takava mizeriya nikoga ne sm vizhdal. Prosto ne sm na sebe si.
And let's talk about "The SPA." What a joke. A tiny, unheated pool surrounded by a grand total of six chairs. Six! I've seen larger bathtubs in studio apartments. Calling this sad excuse for a facility a spa is an insult to actual spas everywhere.
We paid 180 leva per night to freeze our butts off in a dingy, outdated room. When I demanded a refund for the second night after enduring all of this nonsense the first one, they had the nerve to tell me they couldn't do it.
Save yourself the trouble and avoid this dump like the plague. It's not worth the headache, the cold, or the money.
I will make sure to spread the word about this scam hotel. Believe me.
