Loved our stay at the Akali Hotel! Beautiful facilities. In a very convenient and walkable area steps away from restaurants and Old Town. Breakfast was excellent. Nice hotel with a 24h reception. The breakfast as well as the dinner are pretty good but you have to know that no drinks are included at the dinner. The rooms aren’t huge but fair enough for the price (with aircon). The main pool ist very crowed but with a nice view. The pool bar is okay but you must wait pretty long. The next village is just a 5 minutes walk away with nice restaurants and shops.

The hotel is in a perfect location, within walking distance to the city of Agios Nikolaos and a number of beaches. It is situated in a quiet location but also very central. There is a municipal parking 1 min from the hotel with reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the buffet breakfast with very big variety and good quality of products.

Our room wasn't ready (for two people they had given us a room with 5 beds!). They gave us another room number 311. A real scandal, impossible to take a shower, the shower head is in the bathtub and the bathtub is very small. I am 1.53m tall and weigh 65kg, impossible to turn around without flooding everything. Also hello hygiene!!!! The pool closes at 5pm and the water is 19 degrees. Not at all

I would highly recommend staying at Castello if you visit Crete. I came from India and stayed here for a week. Very helpful staff (especially Harry and Eva, who helped me with getting settled here) and friendly vibe. Clean rooms and balcony with magnificent view. Close to city center as well.

Staff work hard. Seemed short of staff at times, as queues for the bar especially at peak times with one person serving. Christos in the restaurant was so attentive esecially looking out for the older generation, and worked hard often doing the work of younger staff who were not so invested in serving.

Everything in the hotel is great BUT we were told we had to stay in another hotel nearby for the first 2 nights due to an "air con failure". Just at the airport having spent 8 nights at the Filia. From start to finish we had a super stay. Michael was very welcoming and ensured we had a welcome drink which was a nice touch. The hotel is spread over two blocks. The main area with reception, bar, restaurant and pool is beautiful. Everything is within easy walking distance even if you're not as able bodied as some. We are just back from a 10 night stay and we had a fabulous time. They are so kind and really look after their guests. The executive suite and standard double we booked were perfect for our family. The pool and bar are very nice. We enjoyed all the food options. Location is good, just a few minutes walk from the strip and the beach. Everything was very clean.
