Hotel Il Faro in Sorrento

The location is excellent unfortunately for the hotel Faro that’s where the excellence ends. The staff for the most part is aloof, they don’t care you have a small amount of time. When I checked out I waited for almost an hour for my car to come from valet. This is totally unacceptable and when I asked where my car is, Erica at reception laughed at me, like my time is not valuable. I’ve been to over 30 countries, from the 1st-3rd world, and I would never expect such treatment here in Italy. Disgusting. Erica thank you for ruining my day.

The hotel is in a great location. If you arrive by ferry it is less than a 5 minute walk. The rooms were clean but the furniture is out dated.

The reason why we give this hotel only 2 stars is because of the lack of service and rude employees. The gentleman that checked us in was nice at first but kept giving us false information. When we entered our room it was not cool. We decided to take a picture of the thermostat and head to the front desk to ask them if they could inform us how to make the room cooler. He informed us to make the room cooler we must turn the knob to the flame. We asked him if this was turning on the heat he said no that is for the air conditioner. We headed upstairs and did what he asked. We left for dinner and when we returned the room was hot. We switched the knob to the snowflake and it began to cool off.

The next day at breakfast the service attendant was rude and disrespectful. As we began to help ourselves at the breakfast bar he shouted across the room who are you, I turned and noticed he was talking to me and I said my name and he said while shouting in front of other guests you need to give me your room number. The rest of the breakfast he was rude and short. Will never stay here again.

Although it said ocean view, you could only see the ocean from a small window. I chose this hotel because I was looking forward to the ocean view of Sorrento, but it was terrible. Next time I will choose another hotel.
