Green Yard was a comfortable and homely guest house / hotel located on the outskirts of Karakol. We arrived in the middle of bad snowy weather but had to stand in the cold outside to be issued our room keys which took a while as there was 23 of us. Shoes off on entry to the buildings and get stored on a shelf and some slippers were available on a first come basis. My room was large, very well heated. The room was dated and the bathroom was very old but the hot water worked and the wifi was strong. Other people had been given more modern/renovated rooms so I think I just lucked out with a frumpy one.

There are nice common areas outside the rooms and a lounge / dining / kitchen area that can be used by everyone. No restaurant onsite and the hotels is several kilometres out of the city so you might want to plan ahead for dinner although I believe the hotel could order in restaurant food for you on request.

Breakfast was served to the table with hot options a la carte which includes fried eggs and pancakes with a variety of bread, cheese, fruit, deli meats and preserves already on the tables. There was no juice and my request for coffee was missed so I just had water. Small gift shop at reception with a lot of local felt products but they were quite expensive.

The Green Yard Hotel is more of a guest house, the staff are very friendly and their rooms clean and comfortable. They have a ski room (we weren’t skiing). The breakfast was absolutely delicious and after going out for a meal in the evening we were able to party on in one of their communal rooms with our own alcohol. Like all hotels in Kyrgyzstan in the winter the rooms were very hot, but we solved this by opening the windows.Be aware that in line with local tradition you have to remove your shoes at the entrances, but rubber slippers are provided. All facilities were very good and it was so much nicer to stay I. A guest house than a hotel.

This was a beautiful, comfortable room. The staff were kind. The breakfast delicious. The huge photos on the walls of the nearby area were stunning. Best of all, after being on tour for over a week on some bumpy roads, were the massages they organised. They came to the hotel and both women were excellent. We were so grateful. Afterwards the woman at reception made us some tea and served us some excellent apple streusel. All in all a fabulous stay.

Lovely guest house/hotel, great breakfast, comfy rooms, and very quiet location. Highly recommended!

This proved to be one of the best hotels on our tour of the 5 Stans. It looks nothing special from the front, but the Japanese style rooms are comfortable and clean and allowed us a good night's sleep. Breakfast was good featuring a good selection and plenty to eat.

Green Yard is known for the best spread of breakfast in Karakol. Moist cakes and that even includes a chocolate cake for breakfast, cheesecakes, apple crumble and strudel; pancakes served with a variety of jams ranging from raspberry, strawberry, cherry, plum and apricot; Syrniki (pancakes filled with cottage cheese); cheeses, breads, local honey, meats, eggs, porridge, fresh fruits like raspberries, plums, grapes, apples and apricots; coffee, tea and cereal served by the friendliest of staff makes it one of the best breakfasts I have come across.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the lawns are full of fruit-bearing trees and flowering shrubs.

The owner comes to each table every morning and makes sure the guests are well looked after. The attention to detail is impeccable. Stay here and make it an experience for the books.

It’s rare to want to write a review about a hotel even before you’ve checked out. Green Yard is definitely one to put on that list. Known for the best spread of breakfast in Karakol, it promises treats that are imaginable only in children’s fairytales and Enid Blyton books. It is also what the hotel has come to be renowned for. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and the lawns are full of fruit-bearing trees and flowering shrubs. The owner comes to each table every morning and makes sure the guests are well looked after. The attention to detail is unmistakable. It’s usually a short stay in Karakol before and after treks but what an absolute joy. Definitely stay here and make it an experience for the books.

Clean and pleasant hotel with excellent breakfast. Rooms are comfortable with good ensuite facilities. Staff speak good English and are very friendly and helpful A little far out from the town centre so you need a taxi to get into town.

We stayed at this nice hotel for 2 nights. The staff was welcoming and helped us with our luggage to the top floor and offered us tea which they brought to our room with apple pie and strudel! Shoes free policy and they give us sanitized sleepers. Room is immaculate clean, good pillows and mattresses, quiet and perfect for a good night sleep. Bathroom was also very clean with beautiful tiles. Breakfast was good with several fresh seasonal fruits and delicious berries preserves. Wifi worked well and overall great experience.

Bit out of the way. I found it quit unwelcoming except for the guy on staff at night. Breakfast was ok. Room was ok, no safe.
