The rooms were spacious and connected, and the hotel was surrounded by autumn leaves and greenery, creating a lovely atmosphere when looking out the window. The parking lot was likely to be full, so a staff member offered to take us to a nearby tourist spot.

Our requests were all carefully accommodated, and our stay was pleasant. The breakfast was delicious and had a unique menu that you won't find anywhere else. I also had a great time talking with the owner, and I hope to visit again after the East Wing is renovated.

I stayed here for one night on a family trip in the summer of 2024. It was a very unpleasant experience, so I'm writing this down. Everything is true. I've also included some useful advice for the hotel. 1. I found a syringe and dirty towels in my West Wing guest room. 2. The entrance was open 24 hours a day and unsecured. 3. Anyone could come to the door of my room. 4. The ice water in the glass pod in the lobby was left there until the next morning. 5. The glasses for the free drinks were covered in dust. 6. There was a gap that a giant cockroach could have gotten into the room. 7. There was a mysterious room that wasn't being used in the maisonette. 8. There was a reddish-black stain on the carpet. 9. There was a parking space available in the East Wing, but I was forced to park in the narrow driveway of the West Wing. Doesn't just reading the above make you feel sick? The syringe in particular was the most shocking. It was found behind an old air conditioning unit. Whether it was for medical purposes or *****, the fact that it was in a guest room is horrifying. Since there was no security and anyone was free to come and go, perhaps cheerful people were partying there every night? Those who rate this hotel "great" are lucky to have stayed here without knowing this fact. If you accidentally touch it with your bare hands and contract an infection, it could ruin your life, not just your trip... Also, the maisonette has a hidden room that can't be reached by stairs. If you're curious, look carefully at the ceiling. There's a pitch-black room (a grenier?) that feels like an attic, and you'll definitely feel anxious, wondering if someone is inside. The West Wing (main building) is not far from the East Wing, but because the reception is in the East Wing, you have to park your car there to check in. After that, you're forced to park in the narrow porch of the West Wing, which is the building's intended use. A black minivan was parked headfirst next to the entrance, completely ruining the Western-style atmosphere. The West Wing is unmanaged and unmonitored. Even malicious people and birds of prey could get in. I thought this would be ideal for those looking for a quiet stay without being disturbed, but I found a large cockroach (a long-legged grasshopper-like pest) hopping around in my room. If you're averse to insects, I highly recommend staying here. Cockroaches are disgusting, both in appearance and movement. I smashed it, but as mentioned above, given the unsanitary cleaning practices, it's probably still lying around somewhere in the room. In addition to the syringe, I also found a dirty towel behind the old air conditioning unit. As a token of hospitality, there's an unmanned free-drink area in the West Wing lobby. The glass pods were filled with iced water, which kept it cool in the evening, but by night, the ice had melted, and I didn't feel like drinking it, since I wouldn't know if someone had added something to it. The glasses were also blown with a fuzzy cloth, so there was some dust on the inside, so I recommend wiping them down yourself. I had no complaints about the bathtub or toilet. However, the shower water pressure was weak, comparable to that in Europe. Even with the hot and cold water levers fully open, the shower didn't produce enough water. For better or worse, the West Wing is an old Western-style building, and the restaurant that likely operated before the East Wing was built has closed, adding to the creepiness. Considering the poor security and service, it can no longer be called a hotel. It's not a condominium or a cottage; it's merely a "detached building" of the East Wing. But it's not a modern-day detached building. It exists solely to supplement the capacity of the East Wing. In fact, when I told the manager about the syringe incident, he made a very unpleasant suggestion: "The East Wing is wonderful, with its jacuzzi, so I'd like you to stay there instead." It's a rude analogy, but what kind of customer would accept such a suggestion if they informed the restaurant where the foreign object was found and told them to come back because there was no foreign object in the main branch? The poor quality of the service is nothing more than the manager's rude and out-of-touch thinking and his arrogance, which has led to a reputation based on the East Wing's French cuisine. The manager himself acknowledges the disparity between the East and West Wings. The East Wing looks good because it's a typical Western-style building. Those who know will understand. I have no intention of eating French cuisine in Hakuba. I think it would be better to savor the flavors of Shinshu by eating game dishes at an auberge in Chino. As for security, they should at least provide guest cards to ensure that only guests are allowed in. There are magnetic card locks that can be retrofitted to regular doors, and they're sold on Amazon. What an overconfidence. I'll never stay there again, and I can't recommend it.

Fantastic helpful staff, great rooms and beautiful location

The hotel was built in an older era, so the facilities are not comparable to those of newer hotels. However, the sanitation condition is okay, the service is full marks, and the overall stay experience is still very good.

The Shadian building is full of European style. Upon arrival, a hotel attendant will introduce in detail the services provided by the hotel, and provide hot tea and snacks, which is full of ritual and warmth. Although the room is not big, it has a bathtub where you can take a hot bath, which is very comfortable. Since I couldn't catch the free shuttle bus to the ski resort, I returned to the hotel to pick up the luggage and take the highway bus back to Shinjuku. The hotel thoughtfully sent a special car and luggage to the station for free. The service provided by the Japanese is worth learning from the service industry in Hong Kong. As for the food, the breakfast in the morning only had American and Pancake sets to choose from, and the taste was average. For the Japanese food in the hotel that night, I ordered Shabu Shabu. The price was reasonable and the portion was sufficient. On the other hand, the Gilled Fish Meal was smaller in size and more expensive than the beef stew, so it was less cost-effective. What I like the most is the mediocre bowl of udon, so delicious! Overall, this is a 4-star hotel that is definitely worth recommending for its cost-effectiveness.

Really lovely hotel, spacious rooms, very clean and well maintained and in a good location. Main reception across the road at the other Hotel La Neige, so did have to head over there with any questions. Loved the Italian restaurant downstairs.

I don't have enough words to express how outstanding this hotel is. The staff went above and beyond for our group and nothing was too much. The hotel is a beautiful building set in a beautiful location just walking distance from a lift and you can ski back to the front door when you are done for the day. We were a large group of 3 families, including 7 teenagers and we all loved staying here. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying again if we come back to Hakuba
